Celebrating this most precious, most cherished, most exceptional woman today and every day 🩵 🫆 🌀 💙 “In my next life, I hope I am my mother’s mother.” A few words that carry infinite meaning, and create space to reflect on the most unconditional love felt by you mum, and how it would be the honour of our lives to offer you just a fraction of the love and acceptance and safety you have provided us in this life. You always say that you wished we could see ourselves through your eyes, in the harder times. I’ll never forget that, a constant mirror and reminder of the greater sum of our many parts. And we want to ask you to do the same today, to see yourself, through ours. Because when we look at you, mum, all we see is undeniable strength and the most tender softness, eons of wisdom and boundless laughter. Someone who is enduring, and so so kind. Someone who listens, and also guides. Someone who doesn’t take herself so seriously, and yet radiates so authentically in the world. Someone who is loved and cherished by quite literally everyone she meets. Old friends, new friends, colleagues, our friends, strangers passing by, you have a way of making everyone feel right at home in your presence. proof of life and adventure. what can we really do in life except try to be honest, try to be a good friend, and go beyond ourselves in some way shape or form. i still hate instagram but i do miss it so i came back for a seccie to see what’s poppin. same things are poppin so gonna drop some pics and split. all i miss is seeing my friends’ updates and reels from my mom, and posting the odd risky story now and then that would probably upset my colleagues if I forgot to hide it from them but otherwise life is better when you’re not thinking about content or consuming it. I still have anxiety and still struggle to stay in touch and I still have intrusive thoughts and I still smoke sometimes but I also have an excruciating amount of joy and connection that makes me want to cry and health and blessings all over the show. in the world that we live in that is an exceptional amount. it was nice to select 20 of my favourite moments since returning to South Africa, i’ve got some pretty fucking spiffy people in my life. by @vexedsnowflake
