One thing we want to make clear is that the Segment Tray is not a tray in the conventional sense. It is part of a system. Four individual pieces, machined from a single solid block of aluminium, anodized to a matte finish that sits quietly on any surface without demanding attention. Every piece hides magnets — invisible until two pieces come together with a firm, clean snap. The object does not change. The way you use it does.

The Segment Tray is not a tray in the conventional sense. It is a system.

Four individual aluminium pieces, each CNC-milled from a solid block of EN AW-6060, are anodized to a matte finish that is consistent across every surface—edges, corners, and cavities included. The finish resists fingerprints, is more scratch-resistant than raw aluminium, and sits quietly on a surface without demanding attention.

Each piece is a perfect square with a hemispherical cavity milled into its top face. The geometry is precise.

Hidden magnets are embedded within each piece. You only notice them when two pieces come together: a firm, clean snap that feels more intentional than magnetic.

The four pieces connect seamlessly. They can be arranged in a two-by-two grid, a single row, or an L-shape. They can also be separated and used individually. Every configuration changes the object—what it holds, how much space it occupies, and how it appears from across the room.

Turn each piece upside down, and it becomes a candle holder. The same cavity that holds keys, rings, or fruit now accommodates a tealight. The object does not change—the way you use it does. by @veydsegments
