Today I'm looking back at 32 years. 32 revolutions around the sun. 32 orbits of our Star, and I'd like each and every one of you to know how grateful I am for being a part of it.

I'm lucky enough to be alive today.. while two other Bright Stars are not. For the longest time, I never considered this day as anything special, simply a measurement of the passage of time. Until this day two years ago..

We weren't as close as we should have been, and while it's true that we all drift apart as we get older, and start our own lives, I deeply regret not being more present in each others lives. I deeply regret never meeting your true love Amy, only ever seeing pictures/videos posted here and there of how blissful you were together.. It's easy to watch through a screen and convince ourselves that's good enough, but the truth is, no amount of posts on social media can ever come close to being together, and sharing a smile.

Stephen and Amy knew that truth, and never took it for granted. They recognized each and every moment IS a Gift, and seized every moment of life they were given, filled it with passion, and purpose. They created an extraordinary life filled it with their dreams, and built that dream together. No matter how dark the world became, they shined through it.. up to the moment their lives were cut short before the summers end.

Last night I dreamed we were all together, old friends and new. And he told me they weren't angry about what happened to them. They had simply changed phases. And then he smiled that smile, and we laughed like old times.
For me, this day is not just a day for celebrating those who are still here, but more importantly, it's a day to celebrate those who don't get to be here with us.

For me, this is now a day for Honoring Life, and for Honoring my friend Stephen and his Lovely Bride Amy. To keep them in the Present. To challenge ourselves, to Truly LIVE, every moment as they did. Today I ask you to join me for a moment in celebration..
