Been a busy spring getting @bostonartreview Issue 16 published along with the latest Art Radar documenting all the current and future summer exhibitions in the Greater Boston area.

~~

More about Issue 16:

As the United States approaches its semiquincentennial, Issue 16 turns away from speculation and toward a closer examination of how history is shaped, contested, and carried forward. Alongside profiles, interviews, and reviews, a special section of writing responds directly to the anniversary, tracing the uneven ways it is being interpreted across New England. Across the issue, artists including Yinka Shonibare, Benjamin Spalding, Aspen Golann, and Chenlu Hou use material and form to examine how meaning accumulates in objects and spaces over time. The issue includes a collaborative artist project pairing photographs by Lindsey Filowitz with poems by Richard Blanco—marking the first time Boston Art Review has published poetry within an artist project. by @vgw.design

🔥 Officially launched this past weekend, Boston Art Review, Issue 15 is now available! 🔥

As layout designer, every page was touched by me and it was an honor to yet again work on this publication celebrating our community and culture. To learn more, here’s some words:

“With Tourmaline on our cover, Issue 15 is embracing the ‘here’ of this moment with projects and essays that speak to how memory, preservation, and practice are intertwined. In addition to profiles, interviews, and exhibition reviews, Issue 15 also features a special section of writing on monuments as part of the City of Boston’s Un-monument initiative. And for the first time, Issue 15 includes three bespoke artist projects that will live exclusively in print.” by @vgw.design

We’ve done it again! Through late nights, deep joy, pushing past internal and external stressors, and lots of laughter, I’m so proud of this issue. Every page was so carefully created and I’m so honored to have touched each one. //

Issue 13 makes room for many forms of imagining. Maria Molteni and Laura Campagna draw parallels between the nineteenth-century Era of Manifestations and a heightened sense of spiritualism today. Jordan Barrant examines the portals that Caribbean artists have brought to Boston. Emily Sara and Sara Hendren imagine a world where disability design becomes quotidian. In our Community Voices section, we hear from local theater makers about the pieces of stagecraft that have enlivened recent performances. And for our artist project, we asked four artists to each share a design for a mask, with results that are by turns whimsical, playful, and pointed in their social commentary. Plus so much more...

On our cover, Tomashi Jackson’s Time and Space (2020) layers archival images from the Civil Rights Movement with ephemera from the 2020 election—an election marked by an uptick in polling place closures. Issue 13 will make its debut just days before the 2024 election. Here, and in conversation with Alisa Prince, Jackson reminds us that history and the present are always intertwined, but more importantly, that the systems we take for granted are never guaranteed. by @vgw.design

If you haven’t seen me lately, you can blame @bostonartreview ✨

Worked on the layouts for three(!!!) issues this year and couldn’t be happier to have joined such an amazing team.

Still found time to be my own pincushion, but as we enter the darker (certainly not colder) nights, I rest.

Hey guys, been a minute. If you’re in the Greater Boston area, I’ve got a nail tech for you!

A while ago, my friend started her own company and I was thrilled when she asked me to redesign her logo! And then she created a line of skincare and we worked on the packaging design together.
