Faixa Preta #4 🖤

Yesterday I became Prof. Gui’s 4th black belt, an honour and achievement that is 11 years in the making.

Every jiu jitsu journey is different; being the smallest person on the mats I always had to study more, tap often, and accept my limitations so I could turn them into strengths.

I am forever grateful to my Professor @guitrestini for allowing me to take my place at @gbsurfersparadise , he has fostered a culture of excellence, mutual respect, and community. Jiu-jitsu is a hard place to be a woman. But since I was a blue belt Professor Gui has always encouraged me to be a leader, not just for fellow women and children but to the men as well. I aim to uphold his legacy for the rest of my life ❤️

Also grateful to my Professor @cameronqkarate for his wisdom and guidance in this sport and in life. His knowledge is without limits and my goal is to one day become a mentor like him. He has an effect on his students that make us feel valued and seen ❤️

I feel extremely blessed to have met so many amazing people in this sport, even luckier that most of the best people I have met are the ones I get to see and train with daily 🌸 you know who you are, thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Lastly to mi vida @chatovaldes ❤️ The love of my life whom I met on these mats 7 years ago. I believe in destiny because of you. Te amo por siempre. What a life we have built for ourselves 🥰 by @via.mar.ie

@afbjjofficial AUS NATIOANALS are underway! @via.mar.ie kicking us off with a beautiful rear naked choke to secure her 🥇✌️ by @via.mar.ie

Finally met the first person on my Holy Trinity of BJJ legends, the greatest @marcelogarciajiujitsu 🐐

Mestre MG is the athlete I look up to the most, not just as an athlete but also as a teacher. For most of my beginnings in the sport I watched thousands of his videos, and MG In Action personally got me out of my blue belt blues. His approach to jiu jitsu is simple: push your game, chase the sub, always be a step ahead, get up if you are down. All with a smile and a positive attitide 🙏🏽😇

I have been wanting to meet him for as long as I have been in this sport and so to be able to learn from him in 3 days is an experience that I will always cherish ❤️

Thank you so much @theacademybyronbay for this experience and for the outstanding lessons from top athletes and incredible professors @thalisonvsoares & @tainandalpra 👑👑 My mind is so full of new concepts and ideas that I feel like I am at the very beginning again 🌸 I love it 🌸

And of course thank you to the ladies that made this weekend a riot @casey.chien @kerrie_clark_ & @lougair 💛💛💛 Love you long time

This camp was so worth it — the classes, live rounds, meeting new people and sharing the mats with all these Jiu-jitsu greats— I cannot wait for the next one 🤌🏽 by @via.mar.ie

Mestre Môa do Katendê lives within us! His legacy, his memory and his extraordinary contributions to Afro-Brazilian culture will continue to live through music, dance, and our memories🪘🤸🏾‍♂️🙏🏾💫

At such a crucial moment for Brasil, with the coming weeks carrying significant implications for the future of their society, we hope this gathering contributed, even in a small way, to strengthening our collective awareness of the importance of democracy, freedom, human rights and social justice. As we reflected together during the event, Capoeira carries within its very essence a history of resistance, a fight for a more just and equitable society, for freedom, and a deep commitment to the collective well-being. These values are not simply part of our past; they are living principles that continue to guide us and remain profoundly relevant to the world we live in today.
May we continue to remember that building a better society means looking beyond our individual needs, caring for one another, standing up for our vulnerable communities and protecting the collective values that bring us together as human beings 🌱✊🏾🌿.

It was so special to share the organisation of this gathering with Prof Madeira and Treinela Paula. Gratidão mulheres maravilhosas! Coming together as women, supporting and encouraging one another, embracing our strengths and empowering each other has been such a beautiful and healing experience. I feel deeply grateful to share this journey with you 💜🫶🏾🌻.

A very special thank you to Mestrando Pererê, CM Neguinho, Responsável Rasta, Instrutor Cutia and Cabra, our dear camaradas who hold male leadership roles within our Capoeira community and who came together to support an event led, organised and conducted by women. Your presence, support, respect and encouragement mean so much to us!!! Heartfelt gratitude to all our camaradas from the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Northern NSW who joined the workshops and Roda, and to everyone from Melbourne, Sydney and beyond who contributed donations to Mestre Môa’s family.

Your love, support and collective spirit mean so much to us! 🤗 Gratidão! Tamos junt@s camaradas! by @via.mar.ie

How to explain this feeling 💛

Thank you Contra Mestre @charelangola for a fun game and for being gentle to me 🥰

I miss training with my Mestre @mestremarceloangola so much 🥲💛

This week learning from CM Charel was so beautiful, I have not been in a roda nor played in a bateria in 2 years so last night I felt a bit emotional. It reminded me of training with Mestre Marcelo and felt his presence here at the Gold Coast workshop last night.

There was a time in my life when all I think about was Capoeira, it consumed me every moment and I did everything I could to experience it. It was a feeling deep in my bones, some could say maybe a memory of a past life?

But I accepted the way life took me in another direction, so it was bittersweet how I was reminded this week of the euphoria that Capoeira brings to my heart.

Thank you so much CM @charelangola , it was a great honour to play and sing with you, the joy you radiate is a gift and I am looking forward to meeting you again one day 💛

Thank you to Professora Amizade, Henrique, Rodrigo and Orion for organising everything from Melbourne, Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, so that those of us who love Capoeira have memories to cherish forever 💛 I love this group @capoeira_angoleirosdomar_qld so much.

Thank you to everyone I trained and played with, it was so nice to catch up with people I have not seen in a while, especially Yolanda, Prof Madeira, Vero & Paula 🌸 I am also super happy to share last evening with my dearest Rô and bring her back to Capoeira 💛

This week was truly a moment to remember, I am overcome with happiness 💛 by @via.mar.ie

Pumped to be joining the coaching team for the upcoming AJJFP x Matheus Gabriel x Samuel Nagai Youth Camp 👊

Growing up, opportunities to learn from the best in the world were rare. That’s why I’m excited to be part of a program that’s giving the next generation of Australian athletes exactly that.

I’ll be on the mats on the Gold Coast Youth Camp alongside 4× IBJJF World Champion Matheus Gabriel, World Champion Samuel Nagai, and the AJJFP coaching team, helping young athletes learn, improve, and get the most out of an unforgettable few days.

🥋 Youth Camps

📍 Sydney | 28–30 September | @apex_bjj_
📍 Gold Coast | 1–3 October @virtuebjj @gbsurfersparadise

3-Months of consistent morning lifts 💪🏽 I have always been relatively active but I never enjoyed going to the gym— until I got sucked in the outfits 😉 @dfyne.official

I also have never taken so much protein in all my 41 years but it truly helps build muscle. No strict diet though as Im in a 🇵🇭🇲🇽 household 🍚🍚🍚
