Snapshots from October mail club 💌 It's only been three months but it's been fun creating new themes and forcing myself to write new pieces! Thank you to the forty mail friends who give me the chance to nurture my creative side - it's been the best therapy. The mail club helps me feel less guilty taking time away to write and create. I really needed that. Anyway, I hope you love the mail this month and please send me anything you write from the prompts!

This is probably the fifth variation of this poem I wrote last year. It was originally inspired by Alice Dunbar Nelson's 1918 poem, I Sit and Sew. by @viancawrites

My attempt at the kyrielle assignment from @mjbwriting_ and @natalieharveldpoetry 🖋️ It probably could be a kyrielle if I only fixed the iambs, rhyme consistency and inconsistent refrain lol 🥴🙃🫪 Thank you for the challenge! taken in Phoenix, Arizona by @viancawrites

I'm planning October poetry mail and the theme is Dia De los Muertos 🌼 I'm including poetry prompts to help you write your own Calaveritas Literarias ( skull literature ). They were originally satirical 'obituaries' popularized during the Mexican revolution. The newspaper would print the poems to poke fun at government officials. The poetic form lives, and during Dia De Los Muertos it's an opportunity to write lighthearted tributes for loved ones. Here's one I wrote for my Tata who was a blue-eyed, charismatic lover boy 🪦🥀🤍
