#lycion from #deliciousindungeon Amazing photo by @marlo.louden ——— This costume means a lot to me, although it’s design is so simple, the act of being able to take my time and dig into a project with materials and practices I found to be very grounding was so important and impactful to myself as an artist and what I want to prioritize in my work going forward. —— serious discussion time —— Lycion is one of the first costumes I had decided was “good enough” to sell when the time came and I no longer wanted to wear him. But truth be told I don’t think I will ever be able to part with the costume due to the degree of memory and sentimentality it holds. I recently had the pleasure of watching @heylizardleigh’s deep dive into the story behind their rose quartz transformation dress and it couldn’t have been at a better time. (Spoilers if you haven’t watched it) They discussed themes of loss and the importance of that person when it came to their craft. I recently lost my great uncle who was an incredibly important man to both me and my family. A conversation with him and you would feel like the most important person in the world if only for that moment. The last time I was able to see him was while I was working on Lycion right before Kitsunekon. I was hand sewing the leather collar and he wanted to know how I did it, what it was for and all the other little nitty gritty details. He then looks at me and says “you’re so talented, you have no idea!” In his old almost gravelly voice and this photo (3rd slide) was taken right after It’s such a simple sentence and I’ve been blessed enough to hear variations of that phrase over the course of my life. But he had a way of making you feel like you were the very best thing that had happened to him.
