VIBE DC “Save Hains Point” Sunday Ride — May 31 — 8:00am, Grace Street Coffee in Georgetown (Yes. We are hosting this again after last week’s 🌧️)

VIBE DC is a weekly Sunday group ride rooted in community. We run three pace groups so every rider has a home, and we regroup on the road so no one gets left behind. Powered by VIBE Tours.

This Sunday we are riding for a bigger purpose: Hains Point. Start Grace Street Coffee : 3299 K Street St NW, Washington DC

Why This Ride Matters. Hains Point is a classic DC destination for runners and cyclists, beloved by people of all ages and abilities. It is currently under threat from plans that would eliminate the Ohio Drive loop, the multi-use path, picnic areas, and other recreational spaces in favor of an expanded private golf course.

Please sign the WABA petition and help keep this space open to the public: https://waba.org/action-page/hains-point-for-people/

All riders must register at our VIBE DC Strava club for every ride (so we can schedule Ride Leaders): https://strava.app.link/fIFlDj7Mi3b First-timers must sign the waiver. It takes a minute and is good for two years.

Finish Tatte Bakery and Cafe: Stick around after the ride for coffee, pastries, and community. Some of the best conversations in this group happen right here.

Schedule
8:00 AM — Gather and grab coffee at Grace Street
8:20 AM — Pre-ride briefing
8:30 AM — Roll out … Finish at Tatte Bakery and Cafe

Groups
A Group: 18 to 20+ mph. Faster, performance-oriented pace for experienced riders. Regroups at key points along the route
B Group: 16 to 18 mph. Moderate pace with regroups at hills and major intersections. No-drop
C Group: 14 to 16 mph. Steady, conversational pace for newer group riders or riders returning from time away. No-drop with regular regrouping

The VIBE DC Sunday ride is sponsored by VIBE Tours’ Tuscany Trip, Sept 26 to Oct 3.

Six VIBE DC riders are going (Yup that’s kind of us in the AI image 😂). Two spots left.

Tuscany leader Steve Dorst will be at Grace Street early at 8:00 AM Sunday with complimentary croissants. Grab a coffee, ask him anything.

Or chat with any of the VIBE DC riders going (Ian, Liz, Hales, Steve, Jeff, SJ not pictured 🤓).

Or stick around at Tatte after the Sunday ride. Ask any of us about Tuscany.

Or check out the Tuscany trip website: https://www.vibetours.co/tuscany-2026-with-christian-vande-velde

Ride Leader Spotlight: Mizel Djukic

Mizel leads our A group and has been riding for 12 years. For Mizel, riding is an escape. Sometimes it is a physical escape to somewhere new, but it is always a mental escape from whatever is nagging him that day. Ask him about marginal gains and he will have a lot to say.

On the bike, riders can always count on Mizel to help the group get better, whether that means talking training, pushing harder, or simply motivating someone to get out and ride. This season he is focused on getting more experience racing.

Favorite place to ride: Skymas, his favorite loop in the region.

Languages spoken: English, Bosnian, Serbian, and Croatian.

Outside of cycling, Mizel is kept busy by two young kiddos, a supportive wife, an F1 subscription, and lots of coffee. Sounds like a full life.

Fun fact: Mizel’s name is completely made up. Even in Bosnia people look at him funny because of it.
