Right around this time ten years ago, I was editing this short doc about hangout music festival. When I reflect upon where I am right now, I’m reminded of this clip of Bruce Larsen from that documentary. I don’t think he knows it, but hoping now he’ll know his openness and wisdom left a lasting impression on me and the kind of life I wanted to make for myself—one that prioritizes the people, pets, places, that fill my cup and sharing the joy that comes from it. These days it’s been harder and harder to step back and appreciate all of that. I could go on for a lifetime about how that feeling is a product of capitalism leading us to this constant comparison of ourselves to each other in an attempt to cripple our instinct to create community and care for each other but uh yeahhhh, I suppose this is me saying thank you to all those people, pets, places, and stories that make my heaven. And thanks Bruce for letting me follow you around and share your story. Plan to be doing a bit more of that soon 👀🫣 by @vic.kohl
