BEHIND THE ARTIST [01/10] | Lazlo 𝗛𝗒π—ͺ π—ͺπ—’π—¨π—Ÿπ—— 𝗬𝗒𝗨 π——π—˜π—¦π—–π—₯π—œπ—•π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ 𝗦𝗒𝗨𝗑𝗗 𝗔𝗑𝗗 π—§π—›π—˜ π——π—œπ—₯π—˜π—–π—§π—œπ—’π—‘ π—¬π—’π—¨β€™π—©π—˜ π—•π—˜π—˜π—‘ π—£π—¨π—¦π—›π—œπ—‘π—š π—œπ—§ π—₯π—˜π—–π—˜π—‘π—§π—Ÿπ—¬? Recently I’ve been drawn to deeper bass and hypnotic sounds with slightly trippy elements. Creating textures and layering tracks is a key part of how I structure my sets, using lower BPMs and drawn-out mixing to build atmosphere. Artists like Na Niche and Claudio PRC, alongside labels such as Oslated and Northern Electronics, have been essential listening over the past few months. π—ͺ𝗛𝗔𝗧 π—œπ—‘π—™π—Ÿπ—¨π—˜π—‘π—–π—˜π—¦ π—¨π—¦π—¨π—”π—Ÿπ—Ÿπ—¬ π—¦π—›π—”π—£π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ π—¦π—˜π—Ÿπ—˜π—–π—§π—œπ—’π—‘π—¦ π—ͺπ—›π—˜π—‘ π—£π—¨π—§π—§π—œπ—‘π—š π—§π—’π—šπ—˜π—§π—›π—˜π—₯ 𝗔 π—¦π—˜π—§? Typically when preparing a set I will always draw inspiration from modern and old school techno sounds and some β€œcurveballs” from other genres that may fit the feel. This all will obviously depend on the party, time slot and venue. π—ͺπ—œπ—§π—› 𝗣𝗔π—₯π—”π—Ÿπ—Ÿπ—« π—–π—’π— π—œπ—‘π—š 𝗧𝗒 π—§π—›π—˜ π—•π—˜π—₯π—žπ—˜π—Ÿπ—˜π—¬ π—¦π—¨π—œπ—§π—˜, 𝗛𝗒π—ͺ 𝗔π—₯π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨 𝗔𝗣𝗣π—₯π—’π—”π—–π—›π—œπ—‘π—š 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ π—¦π—˜π—§ 𝗙𝗒π—₯ π—§π—›π—˜ π—‘π—œπ—šπ—›π—§? For my closing set this time I am excited to play more techno focused tracks after Parallx then honing into a more energetic finish. β€˜The Berkeley Suite’ is one of my favourite clubs in Glasgow to play as the crowd always has an up for anything attitude which means you can have a lot of fun and freedom to push different directions throughout the set. BEHIND THE ARTIST [01/10] | Johnny Greig 𝗛𝗒π—ͺ π—ͺπ—’π—¨π—Ÿπ—— 𝗬𝗒𝗨 π——π—˜π—¦π—–π—₯π—œπ—•π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ 𝗦𝗒𝗨𝗑𝗗 𝗔𝗑𝗗 π—§π—›π—˜ π——π—œπ—₯π—˜π—–π—§π—œπ—’π—‘ π—¬π—’π—¨β€™π—©π—˜ π—•π—˜π—˜π—‘ π—£π—¨π—¦π—›π—œπ—‘π—š π—œπ—§ π—₯π—˜π—–π—˜π—‘π—§π—Ÿπ—¬? For my opening slot, my sound sits between dark, minimal and bleep-led techno. Drawing influence from Moving Pressure and SK_Eleven, I use multi-channel layering to create deep textures, build tension and take the crowd on a journey they can lose themselves in. π—ͺ𝗛𝗔𝗧 π—œπ—‘π—™π—Ÿπ—¨π—˜π—‘π—–π—˜π—¦ π—¨π—¦π—¨π—”π—Ÿπ—Ÿπ—¬ π—¦π—›π—”π—£π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ π—¦π—˜π—Ÿπ—˜π—–π—§π—œπ—’π—‘π—¦ π—ͺπ—›π—˜π—‘ 𝗬𝗒𝗨’π—₯π—˜ π—£π—¨π—§π—§π—œπ—‘π—š π—§π—’π—šπ—˜π—§π—›π—˜π—₯ 𝗔 π—¦π—˜π—§? Ahead of an event, I spend hours exploring tracks and mixes from artists who fit the brief. For this opening slot, I’ve drawn heavily on Connor Wall’s deep, hypnotic sound, alongside influences from Obscur, Confusion, Rene Wise and rising talent Kai Pizer. π—ͺπ—œπ—§π—› 𝗣𝗔π—₯π—”π—Ÿπ—Ÿπ—« π—–π—’π— π—œπ—‘π—š 𝗧𝗒 π—§π—›π—˜ π—•π—˜π—₯π—žπ—˜π—Ÿπ—˜π—¬ π—¦π—¨π—œπ—§π—˜, 𝗛𝗒π—ͺ 𝗔π—₯π—˜ 𝗬𝗒𝗨 𝗔𝗣𝗣π—₯π—’π—”π—–π—›π—œπ—‘π—š 𝗬𝗒𝗨π—₯ π—¦π—˜π—§ 𝗙𝗒π—₯ π—§π—›π—˜ π—‘π—œπ—šπ—›π—§? I feel the art of the warm-up set is becoming lost, with high BPMs and harder tracks introduced too early. My focus is on creating a steady foundation, using ambient sounds to let the floor breathe while gradually building tension before Parallx takes over. The Berkeley Suite awaits. BEHIND THE HEADLINER [01/10]: PARALLX THE SOUND BEHIND THE ARTIST Drawing from β€˜90s techno, ebm and industrial influences, Parallx approaches production with a sharp focus on texture, structure and sonic detail. his tracks often combine metallic percussion, distorted synth workand tighly shaped low end to create a sound that feels alive. THE ARTIST IN ACTION With a sound built around tension and movement, Parallx shapes his sets through driving percussion, hypnotic repetition, and raw industrial textures. His selections move between stripped-back grooves and heavier pressure moments, creating a consistent sense of progression. HEAVY HITTER SUPPORT Parallx has built strong support across the international techno circuit, both through his productions and performances. As a resident at RSO.BERLIN, he sits firmly within one of Berlin’s key techno institutions, regularly sharing lineups with some of the scene’s most respected artists.
