Time That Grows Slowly turns to organic understandings of time as alternative models for living in the world. Equally informed by Michael Marder’s philosophical reflections on plant life and by Sufi and pre-Islamic imaginaries of time as growth rather than linear movement, the group exhibition features works by international artists, many of whom have never exhibited in
Dubai before. The work share propositions for cultivating empathy with the botanical world, while simultaneously probing different modes of vegetal attunement—an intentional alignment with plants and their cyclical, non-urgent rhythms. The theatrical art collection assembled by Prince Nikita and his wife, Nina, is internationally recognised as one of the most significant collections of Russian stage design. Encompassing over 1100 works by 177 artists, it represents the full scope of Russian modernism from the 1880s to the 1930s and offers a rare and comprehensive insight into the artistic achievements of the Silver Age.”
