After nearly 20 years in business, my definition of success has changed.

I’m not interested in building the biggest business in the room.

I’m interested in building a business that makes excellent money, creates exceptional results for the people I work with, and gives me the freedom to actually enjoy my life.

Because more clients, more offers, more revenue, more team, more complexity and more hours don’t automatically equal a better business.

Sometimes the next level isn’t about adding more.

It’s about becoming far more deliberate about what stays.

Fewer, better clients.
Stronger positioning.
Premium offers.
More profit.
Less complexity.
More freedom.

A business designed around the life you want to live, rather than a life increasingly organised around the business you’ve built.

That’s what success looks like to me now.

And that’s the work I’m here to do.

Not every business problem needs another three-month programme.

Sometimes you need one day with the right person looking at the right problem.

Sometimes you need a week to make the decisions, implement them and see what happens.

Sometimes one part of the business needs a month of focused attention.

And sometimes the whole thing needs recalibrating.

That’s why I’ve changed the way I work privately with established female founders.

I don’t believe the answer is automatically more support, more calls, more modules or more time inside somebody’s world.

I want to know:

What’s actually not working?

Is it the positioning?

The offer?

The pricing?

The messaging?

The way you’re attracting clients?

The way you’re delivering the work?

Or have you simply built a successful business that’s become far more complicated and demanding than it ever needed to be?

Because the goal isn’t to sell you the biggest container I have.

The goal is to identify the real constraint and give it the right depth of strategic attention.

One day.
One week.
30 days.
90 days.

Same strategic brain. Different depth of support.

And always with the same objective:

To help you build a simpler, more profitable business that creates more freedom, not another full-time job you’ve accidentally built for yourself.

If you’re already established, but something about the way your business currently works isn’t working for you anymore, send me PRIVATE and tell me what’s going on.

We’ll start there.

I used to think moving fast was one of my greatest strengths.

And sometimes it is.

I’m decisive. I get things done. Once I’ve decided I want something, I’m very good at making it happen.

But I’ve also realised how easily that can turn into living with a constant sense of urgency.

When I decided to rebuild my business, I could have launched quickly.

Instead, I’ve spent months thinking about what I actually want this business to look like, how I want it to operate and, perhaps most importantly, how I want my life to feel while I’m running it.

That’s been a very different experience.

I’m not moving slowly.

I’m moving deliberately.

There’s a difference.

You don’t have to manufacture urgency to create momentum.

Scale is a business characteristic.

Freedom is a life outcome.

They’re perfectly capable of existing together, but one does not guarantee the other.

That’s the nuance I think gets lost when established entrepreneurs are automatically encouraged towards courses, memberships and volume as the obvious next stage.

Before choosing a scalable business model, I’d want to know what you’re actually trying to scale towards.

I unpack the economics and trade-offs of this much more deeply in Episode 2 of The Authority Edit.
Comment PODCAST and I’ll send it to you.

You can become extremely good at solving problems your business model keeps creating.

That’s what makes this difficult to spot.

You’re capable.

So you handle it.

You build the system. Change the delivery. Add the infrastructure. Find another way to make the machine work.
And it does work.

The more interesting question is whether you still want the machine.

Business simplification begins when you stop treating every piece of existing complexity as permanent.

Revenue targets look wonderfully tidy in a spreadsheet.

The business required to produce them is where things get interesting.

Two businesses can generate exactly the same revenue while requiring completely different amounts of delivery, marketing, infrastructure and human attention.

That’s why I don’t think the useful question is simply:

How do I make more?

I want to know what has to be true inside the business in order to make it.

Because if your definition of success includes freedom, the mechanics matter.

If you want to go deeper into the fewer, better clients model, comment PODCAST and I’ll send you Episode 2 of The Authority Edit.

If you doubled your revenue by doubling everything you’re doing now, would you actually want the life that came with it?

Maybe the most useful question you can ask before chasing your next income level is this:

If I achieve it using the business model I have now, do I actually want the life on the other side?

Because revenue is only one measurement.

Freedom matters too.

That’s been the conversation this week.
And in the latest episode of The Authority Edit, I take it much further.

You Don’t Need a Bigger Business: Why More Revenue Doesn’t Have to Mean More of Everything.

Comment PODCAST and I’ll send you the episode.

This is why I’m careful when people talk about ā€œscalingā€ as though there’s only one way to do it.

Growth doesn’t automatically have to look like more offers, more infrastructure and more complexity.

Sometimes the constraint is useful.

In this case, the business needed to work around two very small children.

That changed the question.

We weren’t asking:

ā€œHow much business can we build?ā€

We were asking:

ā€œWhat kind of business will actually support the life she wants?ā€

Those questions lead you towards very different decisions.

If you want to go deeper into this idea, comment PODCAST and I’ll send you this week’s episode of The Authority Edit. taken in Leicestershire by @victoriaplayer

You might not have a capacity problem.

You might have a business model problem.

There’s a subtle difference here.

If capacity is genuinely the problem, then improving systems, support and productivity may help.

But if your business model itself requires too much of you, those things only help you carry the problem more efficiently.

That’s why I think experienced entrepreneurs sometimes need a different kind of audit.

Not:

Where can I squeeze out another 10%?

But:

Why am I carrying this in the first place?

The answer can change far more than your calendar.

Save this one and come back to the question:

ā€œHow much of this actually needs to be here?ā€

I’m rebuilding my business very differently this time.

In the past, I’ve been very good at moving quickly.

What I’ve been less good at is stopping long enough to build the infrastructure that would make success easier to sustain.

This time, the systems are being built before I need them.

Because I don’t only care whether this business succeeds.

I care about what it requires from me when it does.

The business model has to support the life I’m building alongside it.

And that might be the biggest recalibration of all.

Becoming a mother forced me to completely rethink the way I did business.

Before I had my son I was doing ALL the things.

Online programmes.
Trainings.
Launches.
Live events.

Speaking around the UK and on international summits.

And I could.

My life allowed me to.

Then I had Eaton.

I was a lone parent and the sole provider.

Suddenly I had this little person who needed me.

But my business still needed me too.

So I tried to do BOTH.

I’d wake at 5am, look after Eaton during the day, put him to bed and then start work.

Seven at night until the early hours.

And for a while, I kept going.

Because that’s what we do, isn’t it?

We tell ourselves this is just a busy period.

We’ll work a little harder.

Things will calm down soon.

Except things don’t calm down when the business itself is designed to keep you busy.

Eventually, I had to admit that the way I was working was untenable.

I couldn’t continue pretending to be Superwoman.

And more importantly, I didn’t want to.

I’d built my business because I wanted freedom.

I wanted to be mistress of my own destiny.

Yet there I was, working until midnight because my own business demanded it.

So I stripped things back.

I changed the business model.

And I stopped assuming that making more money required me to keep adding more.

I didn’t earn less because I did less.

I went from overwhelm to generate more than £30,000 in a matter of months.

Not because I’d discovered how to squeeze more work into my life.

Because I’d stopped building a business that required so much of it.

That lesson has never really left me. taken in Leicestershire by @victoriaplayer

Sometimes hiring another person is solving the wrong problem.

Delegation is useful.

But delegation is not the same thing as simplification.

That’s where I think some established business owners get caught.

We create complexity.

Then we hire people to manage the complexity.

Then we create systems to manage the people managing the complexity.

And eventually we’re managing the machinery that was supposed to make us freer.

Sometimes the answer genuinely is better support.

Sometimes the answer is subtraction.

Knowing which problem you’re actually solving matters.

If this has hit a nerve, comment PODCAST and I’ll send you this week’s episode. I go much deeper into the difference between growth and unnecessary complexity.
