POSTS STORIES REELS

Some stills from “A Snowflake Melting, Its Sensuous Detail” (2025) which is a 40 minute mostly found footage video that combines dead mall tour videos, empty tunnels and paths to illustrate a story about a dysfunctional unnamed queer person who develops an unlikely relationship with a ghost of the author David Foster Wallace. //when I was a teenager I was an active member of a livejournal community called film_stills (very proto tumblr in its spirit) and i think that place, and the people who used it, really fostered a certain kind of long-standing, deep affection for a decontextualized images with subtitles. Maybe you like those things too. Thank you to everyone who has come to see the exhibition that is also called “A Snowflake Melting, Its Sensuous Detail” (so far) at Art Metropole (it’s up until July 6th) by @vida.beyer

Hi, I will do Compliments on Friday the 9th of October. I thought I would experiment with doing a grid post breaking down what Compliments (2022-???) is, hopefully this has some utility + a bug that was in front of the lock to my front door xoxo vjb by @vida.beyer

I have been thinking a lot about presentation, professionalism, preciousness and urgency — and what these things have to do with what I have to offer at this time. Here is what I read last night, I don’t feel any need to contain what I have/had to say in a more legitimate way than this I don’t think. Remember when people used to post their breakfast on instagram ? This is the breakfast I make for me and my mom every morning while she recovers from knee replacement surgery. Also a beautiful hang out of four cats. Whenever I have loved anyone deeply usually it was because they were and are a great hang. At the end is little me in 2009 in my apartment that cost $290 a month + utilities. There are errors and words that should be there that are not and the reverse. Hope this is okay to post etc by @vida.beyer

Thinking about development + nurturing + time + “healing” by @vida.beyer

A thing that is possibly an eternally unfinished object that I thought I would share. I started working on it in December of 2024 and have periodically picked it up and put it down between 2024 and March 2026 when my ancient secondhand computer died and I lost the reference files to work on the image of Darby Crash at the bottom. I may reconstruct the files at some point but who knows. I know that the way that I work is often so slow that it makes people baffled and (I think ?) maybe annoyed. There are always so many things I want to make and so many things I am working on at any given time but there is something meaningful to me about extreme slowness and intensity of this kind of work. Maybe it’s intimacy or love (verb). I always want to make something I’m not able to access elsewhere yet (maybe hubristic of me). I haven’t been sharing much of my constructed work on here for the past while ,mostly sharing writing and things I have found) but it does still happen. Sometimes I have thoughts like “I am a punk technician” but I don’t know if that makes sense. Sometimes I feel like my fellow sag sun Pisces moon George Seurat (or some confusing affinity). I hope to make sense to someone maybe at some point haha. I have a lot of dreams. by @vida.beyer
