Episode 11 | Serving in the house of the Lord is no small task. With just 2 hours of sleep, I was off to Lagos with the laundry list of things to do. And of course in Lagos you really should only commit to doing 2 things in a day, 3 things is really stretching it but today I had planned everything out. I knew exactly where to go, but Lagos said no. Because of rainy season one small turn led us to 2 hours of driving through huge puddles of water. At some point I almost thought this guy was trying to set me up. 🫠 The way I was praying in my head. I was prepared to bring out the Ajegunle in me because na me and you today sir! Why I’m being belligerent to not use my own driver? Idk. Episode 10 | My iCloud @apple somehow chose to delete all my videos from the first day of my trip to Abuja 🫠🫠🫠🫠 So here’s day 2! The Abuja versus Lagos beef is hilarious. Episode 8 | Never, I repeat, never allow a military soldier to be in charge of the itinerary. I was looking like a straight JJC walking the streets of Lekki in darkness. just for food lol. Episode 7 | Coming at you with an athletic reset. We started at @143fitness_ , my friend Nichole’s beautiful new studio in Lekki—so chic, so calming. Yall absolutely have to come take a class with Coach Jem. Thank me later…or not 😅Then, I popped over to The Padel House in Ikoyi—just to watch because apparently I’m not good enough to play. Is paddle not like tennis? Is it not just to hit the ball? lol. Episode 6 | Safe and sound back in Lagos—but what a ride. 🚗💨 In just two hours on the road to Oyo, we almost had a fatal accident. By the grace of God, after I finished my morning devotional, the Holy Spirit told me to pray—and exactly 7 minutes later, we avoided disaster. It was just like Anthony Joshua’s accident on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway—same road, same close call. The driver didn’t even flinch, but I knew we were spared. 🥺So today, I’m taking a much needed break. I met up with my friend, my learned colleague in Nigeria 😅 and then had a meeting for my mentorship/apprenticeship program. I can’t stress this enough—giving back to the Nigerian community is everything. For me, it’s about building the next generation of legal pros who can compete globally. More on that soon. ✨To end the night, I went to @laughtercave_ stand-up with my @dream__vc crew. Special shoutout to my cousin @thephage, the future comedy king! Episode 5 | Two accidents in two hours? 💔😳I’ve never been so shaken yet so calm. On the road to Oyo, just two hours from Lagos, we almost had a f@ta! crash—then actually got into a T-bone accident. The craziest part: it happened after I’d just finished my morning devotional. The Holy Spirit told me to pray in the Spirit, and exactly 7 minutes later, we narrowly avoided disaster. It was just like Anthony Joshua’s accident on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway—same road, same kind of close call. And the driver didn’t even flinch—just kept going. 🙃A huge tip: never disrupt a convoy in Nigeria—those guys are not playing. 😅 And if the Holy Spirit nudges you to pray, do it—life is too precious. 🤎Aside from that, this journey is about more than surviving. As a lawyer, I know that my network is my book of business—I’ve been keeping those warm intros, and it paid off in connecting with some amazing startups here. And, of course, the stereotype of the Igbo businessman? The house agent said I have trust issues. Ummmm, excuse me??? 😳🫠In episode four, we go from house agent search dates to church at a new location and then a vibey food fair.What I need to know and understand is the assumed and acceptable level of professionalism for service providers in Nigeria. Like I don’t understand how I’m asking a potential house agent to send me a list of questions he wants me to find out and he’s telling me, “but we’re talking about it,ma.” Ummm sirrrr, u wan work, abi u no wan work? Like guy really wanted me to do the work for him. And don’t let me talk about responsiveness and the quality of communication. It’s like it’s gonna take me time to find the right set of people who match my particular style. Given that I’m a lawyer who is also a great communicator, this may take a while LOLBut if you don’t do anything else, you MUST come back for EP5.
