“Velvet in Pools and Light”

I’m super excited to share this photograph which was selected for inclusion in Arts to Hearts Project’s 101 Art Book: Photography Edition! I’m so proud of this piece and the journey it’s embarked on, since I first took it on a family vacation. Thank you again for this selection @artstoheartsproject !🩵🌊

Its caption reads, “This piece features the faded, rippling nature of a swimming pool. It invites the audience to feel its familiarity, in the soft water, sunlight, and palm tree shadows. Though it is an image frozen in time, the viewer should be able to understand its movement, similar to revisiting a memory.”

You Can’t Spell Stars Without Rats (project 1 of THE RAT)

I’m so happy to finally share the piece that started my entire residency project. While this project’s primary location resides in New York, the inspiration for this painting came from a gas station in Florida. At night, the gas station shines red light, in order to see turtles crossing on the ground. In a journal entry about this sight, I wrote: The red glow of the Circle K encapsulated the gas station’s area in its own plane, nothing else around it. It’s almost as if we had been observing it from an outside void, dripping and oozing in sparkly darkness, until we stepped forward and materialized into red. I imagine a line of turtles fading into red and then swimming back to the ocean of darkness.

Obviously, I changed the animal to rats to represent this image because my goal with this project was to “shine a red light” on them and introduce a different way to see the animal; I want my audience to see a certain amount of humanity in rats.

I am also elated to share that this is my first award winning painting! It was selected for the Circle Foundation for the Arts’ Creative Excellence Award! This painting is so special to me and I am so proud of the recognition it has received❤️🐀⭐️

ARTMAGEDDON 2026 is in t-minus 9 days!❤️🧡💛

Inspired by Milky Chance’s song “Daydreaming,” I made this piece by drawing a single line to the beat of the song and choosing colors that I associate it with. well…the rat’s out of the bag! I’m so excited to reveal that my painting “You Can’t Spell Stars Without Rats” was selected for one of Bastille’s Secret 7s covers! Anyone who knows me knows that this is a dream come true for me, I still cannot believe that my art became cover art for my favorite band. Thank you @secret7s @warchilduk @bastilledan for selecting my work for this year’s auction and exhibition, I’m so grateful to be a part of this cause.

Anyway, here’s to us being like starry rats, holding hope in our bones and adapting to the ever changing world around us🖤⭐️🐀❤️

“Hearts From My Sleeve Project” 🤍❤️🩵🧡💛🩷💚

Something I question often is what I should do with old clothes. I used to donate them, but I know doing that isn’t always the best since thrift stores can become overcrowded with donations and clothing ends up being thrown away. Some clothes also have rips or stains that I don’t feel good about donating and some clothes have such a sentimental value that I don’t want to quite part with. With a growing pile of unused fabric, I decided, why not up-cycle them into hearts? More often than not, clothing is an extension of ourselves and represents the things, people, and selves that we love. Now I can say that I quite literally have worn my heart(s) on my sleeve and am happy that I was able to give these pieces a new life. Here are a sneak peek of hearts that will be for sale at ARTMAGEDDON 2026, and I’m so overjoyed that I can share them with my community:’))

Here’s a list of some articles of clothing that were used in this project:
1. A brandy melville car shirt
2. Blue pants that were always a little too long for me.
3. A bandana with sparkly tassels.
4. A thrifted pair of jeans that fit perfectly.
5. A sock that lost its other pair.
6. My grandfather’s sweater that got shrunk in the wash.
7. And so many more!
