And just like that Jasper is 1!! Wishing our lil grandbaby the Happiest of Birthdays! You are So loved. From the moment I looked into your eyes (your were just a few minutes old!) I saw generations of our families that had come before you. I felt your absolute peace & the wisdom & steadfastness of your soul. (I now realize your vision may have been blurry😅🥰, maybe mine was also, the tears were real). You are beautiful. We love you. #birthdayboy taken in Ojai, California by @vignettenoire

Little did I truly believe that my new German friend lived next to a 19C defunct doll factory until she sent me a box full of freshly dug doll parts wrapped in German newspaper, including handblown German glass eyeballs of all sizes 😅 (to follow). And the best part is, they are German porcelain that has been glazed and fired so they can be re-fired! Mason stained porcelain with bits of glass, glaze has bits of glass and brass. We know where the hand came from. #ceramics #antiquedoll #horror #foundobjects #focus #gucci #alexandermcqueen taken in Ojai, California by @vignettenoire

Happiest of Birthdays to a lovely Auguste P. She is gorgeous, charming, spiteful, loving, tolerant, kinda like a mini vacuum when it comes to food (hence the collar after surgery having munched on 5 Palm tree seeds), an absolute Sun Goddess, a Healer and a Queen. Gotta thank Helena for bringing her in our lives and sharing the love🖤#blackpugs #pugloversclub #birthdaypug taken in Ojai, California by @vignettenoire

A day of reverence-prayer, honoring.
To remember those not only who fought for our freedoms, but to remember the lives war impacts every moment. We cannot ignore, ever, the atrocities of war. Impossible to encapsulate the horrors. I share these photos of my father as a tiny example/rememberence-he was 15 1/2 yrs old when Pearl Harbor was attacked. The kids were called into the gymnasium at Mission High in San Fran. Once the principal announced the attack half the young men got up & left. Cannot imagine! My mother recalled over &
over never seeing so many of her friends ever again. The third slide or so shows a changed man. In just 2 1/2 short years of hell on earth. Finally stationed on the Kwajalein Islands, ‘45, his boat was hit. The only thing he ever said was that he remembers “going up” when the boat was hit but didn’t remember coming down. Didn’t hear too many other stories which I now understand was how it goes with this era soldier. I want to recognize and honour the men, women and children who suffered and survived this war. And those who did not.
A couple slides are of inter island newspapers. Circa 1945. #wwii by @vignettenoire
