📸 “Retrospective Welds Done Right.”

Recent works saw a new pipe utility piece (PUP) installed into a pre-existing fuel line for BPA, one of the UK’s major fuel distributors.

Alongside the tie-in, a set of retrospective welds were carried out — recreating the originals under the same parameters to confirm quality and compliance through macro and tensile testing.

To properly simulate the original welds, a section of old and new pipe was welded using the same approved WPS, materials, and conditions as the initial fabrication.

These samples were then sent to one of our trusted partner labs for independent testing — verifying the mechanical strength and metallurgical integrity of the original joints. 🔬

Before welding, demag was performed to prevent arc blow, ensuring full control and weld stability throughout. ⚡️

🌾 From Farm Waste to Fuel ⛽️ — With Precision.

Our client, a local farmer producing biomethane from agricultural waste, was blending propane into his gas line to raise the calorific value and meet grid-quality standards. Propane helps balance energy content, stabilise combustion, and match the burn rate of natural gas — since biomethane and propane burn at different rates and energy densities.

However, without accurate flow data, he couldn’t measure how much propane was being used — leading to major losses. We carried out all inspection works for a new 3-valve control system, delivering precise regulation and saving over £2,000 a day in surplus propane.

Because valves differ from the main pipeline, we also specified a dedicated protection method — a 3-part coating system of mastic profiling putty, anti-corrosion petroleum tape, and PVC wrap — ensuring long-term protection and easy re-access for future maintenance. #youradvantageinintegrity ⛰️ taken in Andover, Hampshire, United Kingdom by @vii_ltd

⚠️ Corrosion Doesn’t Wait — Neither Do We.

During a recent inspection, our Ultrasonic Testing (UT) revealed severe loss of wall thickness caused by hidden corrosion. Wall thickness had dropped far below safe limits — a ticking time bomb in an active line supplying energy to over 55,000 homes.

Because of our swift inspection and accurate UT data, the affected pipe section was removed and the line safely rerouted. Once isolated, further inspection confirmed multiple perforations — showing just how close this was to a serious failure.

Our work didn’t just save millions in potential losses — it prevented a major energy disruption and possibly saved lives.
