Had a brilliant long weekend with my fabulous friends, enough food to bankrupt a small nation, and several decisions that will absolutely become “core memories” once the evidence disappears.

Meanwhile, Bentley, the feathered freeloading pigeon 🪶 still hasn’t left 🤦🏾

Huge thanks to Alina @alinasreallife for once again as my personal paparazzi somehow managing to capture photos that make me look like functioning adults instead of an escaped festival survivor. taken in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany by @vikasmathur

Apparently, saving European cinema now involves me, Cineville, and Central Kino Würzburg dragging people back into actual movie theatres.

The past few months have been nothing short of a full scale personal reboot: the successful film festival, the formidable cast of loving people in my life, and most critically; my return to India, where reconnecting with family, old friends, and colleagues snapped my sense of purpose sharply back into focus. The solo travels across the subcontinent , executed with unapologetic independence, didn’t just energize me, they made it abundantly clear that I’m not drifting through any of this; I’m very much centre framed for a reason, reengineered with a far sharper, and frankly overdue, understanding of exactly who I am and what I’m here to do.

Had an amazing evening the other day at the opening of the Würzburger Weinparade.

There were passionate winemakers, spectacular food, excellent wine, and a wonderful group of media, food and lifestyle guests who made the evening even more enjoyable.

I also got to hear some genuinely fascinating stories about the wine, the region and the heritage behind it all. Which, naturally, became even more fascinating after the third glass.

Special thanks to the Weinparade, all the Weingüter, and of course my friend Alma for a fantastic evening.

Research was conducted. Wine was consumed. Journalism happened. 🍷

Disclaimer: I was invited, but not paid. Which means my opinions remain entirely my own… although they may have been slightly influenced by the wine.

When your posters are too good to stay on the wall 👀
FIWO posters by ATE Crew (Chris & Simon) went missing across Würzburg and we went looking.

A street mystery reported by Vikas Mathur with camera person Alma Wagner, somewhere between art, cinema, and curiosity. 🎞️

Thanks Woodcutter Schulz + Alina Höhn for your help, and location help at Loisl & Anton +++

Shortly before we set off for coffee, Dana and I took a stroll, and the autumn light proved exceptionally becoming, especially during my camera testing for an upcoming fashion film. I could scarcely have hoped for a finer model; the proof, as ever, is in the frame.

Two years ago, I found myself in Frankfurt, filming Alina @alinasreallife on an evening that remains vivid in my memory. She has always been my greatest muse and dearest friend—a role she will forever hold in my heart. Today, she stands as a formidable career woman and a brilliant mother, but for me she’s still the creative woman i could trust and I couldn’t be prouder of all she has accomplished, including the remarkable milestone of reaching 100,000 followers.

My wish for her is a simple one: that she continues to flourish, to find joy in abundance, and to inspire others as profoundly as she has inspired me.

The past week or so has been, if I may say so, rather an exercise in sustained activity, demanding in the most rigorous sense, yet profoundly rewarding. Year upon year, I find myself increasingly astonished by the unwavering dedication of my esteemed colleagues at the Filmwochenende Würzburg @filmwochenende . Their enthusiasm for the art of cinema; an enthusiasm I am, of course, most delighted to share, is nothing short of remarkable.

It has been an absolute pleasure to find oneself immersed in one’s natural milieu, engaging in the refined discourse of storytelling, the nuances of cinematic expression, and, indeed, the company of those visionary filmmakers who ceaselessly endeavour to expand the frontiers of the medium. Furthermore, my interactions with colleagues, municipal officials, and representatives from various film productions and commissions have been, as one might expect, both stimulating and highly constructive.

Naturally, amidst such an industrious schedule, one must not underestimate the importance of brief yet restorative interludes—moments spent in congenial conversation with friends, my cute little God Kid Baby F and, most delightfully, in the company of dogs. In sum, a most invigorating and thoroughly splendid week.

Thanks @torstenrepper + @rosafernandagama + @alinasreallife for taking the pictures.
