We experienced a special milestone, as Ross Hulleman achieved his 10-year anniversary at Viking Performance. We are absolutely honored to have such an incredible employee. Ross, first and foremost, is someone we consider a great friend. In regards to an employee, this post will never come close to describe just how valued Ross truly is. Ross can do it all. He is an excellent shock builder. As we have said over and over again, we have the best shock builders in the world. We do not say that lightly, and Ross is a huge part of that. However, it does not end there. Ross now spends significant time in the office helping Viking provide the best customer/technical support in the industry. Also, if you happen to show up at SEMA, PRI, or other trade shows Viking is displaying at, you will likely find Ross working the booth. If we need help prepping a car for a race, Ross will be turning wrenches to ensure we make the event. If we need someone to attend a race to provide trackside assistance, Ross is at the race working to make us faster (in one of the pictures, you can only see Ross’ legs under the ’71 Camaro on the top level of the Westgate ramp in Las Vegas making a rearend gear change). We need a car hauled from MN to AZ in order to make an event? Ross is in the truck for a 24-hour drive. A customer needs a shock rebuilt on a weekend… there is Ross, making a special trip back to Viking in order to repair the shock. We need help final packing shocks? There is Ross packing shocks (while setting records times, I might add). Ross is certainly a special talent with a great attitude. Ross, congratulations on the 10 years! And even though you heard us say it over and over again, THANK YOU for all that you do! Viking would not be the same without you. by @vikingperformance

We love a little family banter.

The King family of Viking Performance brought plenty of friendly competition, proving that a passion for cars and motorsports runs deep through generations. From dad passing down the legacy to the next generation, it was just as fun watching the family banter as it was seeing them compete on track.

That’s what makes USCA special. It’s more than a competition. It’s a place where families come together, share their passion, create memories, and enjoy time with the people who matter most.

The trophies are great, but the moments spent together are what make the weekend unforgettable.

Our weekend at @brainerdraceway was a fun, and definitely an eventful one!

On Friday, we made our way up for a test day. Getting some track time proved worth it, as I was able to find the light very well, and ended up getting my second ever Trip Zip on the last pass of the day! We started to notice some inconsistency in the car as the day went on, which is something we were fighting the next day.

Saturday, I started off qualifying with my second Trip Zip in a row, being my third one ever! The car ran as expected and we had noticed no issues to start the day. In Q2, I cut an 0.020, out the car slowed down more than expected.

I ended got the first round bye because of my reaction in Q1! The car slowed down even more than expected. But on the bright side, I cut a 0.004!

In round two, we dialed up, preparing for the car to slow down a bit. It ended up going on a rip, but because I had a major advantage on the light, I was able to lift just past half track and got the win light.

Going into the final, we were confident especially with the lights I’d been cutting, and we dialed what we thought the car was going to run. But with the uncertainty on how it would run, I had to attack the tree. Unfortunately, ended up going red but only by -0.006. But a runner up isn’t something I’ll complain about!

Now the real fun begins! We determined that the issue with the inconsistency was the fuel pump. And there were two ways to access that. 1 is to drop the exhaust and the rear end. 2 is to cut a hole in the floor! So we picked option 2!

With the grinder we had to buy earlier in the day to cut through our own lock that broke on the trailer, we cut right through the bottom and replaced the pump. A huge thank you to my grandpa @joeschalm and my dad @andyschalm for helping through all of this craziness!

And last, but certainly not least, thank you to all of my sponsors:

I went with a full CPP setup — mini subframe, upper and lower control arms, sway bar, steering box, and front disc brake conversion. Paired it with Viking coilovers and 2” drop spindles to get the stance and drivability where I wanted it.

Out back is a CPP narrowed rear leaf spring lowering setup, which let me run an 8” wide wheel with a 245 tire with no rubbing and no mini-tub, which was huge for keeping the car simple and usable. I’m also running CPP headers, which fit clean with the suspension and didn’t create any clearance headaches.

The car drives super tight and handles awesome — way more confidence than stock, and it finally feels like everything is working together instead of fighting itself.

Not a show car build — just focused on making a classic drive, stop, and handle the way it should. @classicperform @vikingperformance by @vikingperformance
