Today we said goodbye to Copper, our "best doggo" and the heart of our family since Joss and I first met.

From the early days of coast-to-coast adventures in the truck to much quieter and more consistent days (his favorite) in Collingwood as Lori’s shadow and Autumn’s big bro, he was our constant.He was a master of "sniff’faris," a beach-goer who couldn't swim, a trail dog who loved the adventure and challenges but at a nice leisurely pace and a timekeeper who took Daylight Savings as a personal insult to his stomach.

He went out exactly as he lived: surrounded by his pack Joss, Lori and I. finishing a final Happy Meal and every treat he could handle.

Rest easy, little man. You were our love, and we hope the trails are endless and dinner arrives on time every day. by @viktor_freeez

It's been a really tough couple days, and I thought sharing this little note I wrote late in the night on the day Copper passed to be healing.

Things we'll always remember about our Copper🩷

his beautiful, soulful eyes • the sound of his "tippy-tappies" across the floor • his whole-body ear shakes • his "great big stretchies" and how he was so proud that he could do downward dog on command • his "waggle-bums" as he proudly trotted along • how he would give us "huggies" • the way he loved forehead kisses and would always lean right into them • how he always looked to us for reassurance and approval • how he loved being praised and flicked his tail whenever we told him he was a good boy or the bestest boy • how he was so gentle with his soft, plushy toys • how much he loved pillows and blankets, and had to fluff them up just right before collapsing into them • how he loved fresh laundry straight from the dryer • the way he thrived on routine and demanded his dinner right at 4pm • the way he loved to howl along to "Stay with Me" whenever we'd play it for him • how he loved car ride adventures and always rested his head on @viktor_freeez 's shoulder as he excitedly watched out the window • how much he loved being off-leash with us on the trails (his favourite thing!) • how he was such a gentle boy who would never nip at us, even when he was in pain • how he was such a great big brother to his sister, Autumn • how much he loved children @runallthemileseatallthesnacks • how he always wanted to be pressed right up against us, but not pet too much • how much he loved baking on the grass and feeling the hot sun on his face • and so much more🩷

Copper truly was the glue that held our family together, and he will always have a very special place in our hearts🐾🌈 Please hold your furbabies a little tighter for me today. by @viktor_freeez
