Good Mourning y’all,

I woke up with my cousin, Christian, sitting on my chest. There’s no ease in this feeling. Only hard, deep breaths and a hand to my heart, telling me this buzzing will end when I do.

I wrote to God once. Asking Him, pleading, really, that my babies will outlive me. It feels, at times, black boys are sacrifices slipping through fingers that aren’t quite fastened hard enough. LIFE IS HARD ENOUGH.

Tell a black boy you love him today. Take care of him today. If you woke up grieving a black boy, you are not alone.
