My mom was the best cook. Her versions of adobo and palabok were my favorite. I am the cook i am today because of her. She was the inspiration for @vilma.lbc. Her love, hospitality and generosity were always on display during family gatherings. You’d know because you’d leave stuffed and go home with a Tupperware full of food.

She told me a story a year or 2 ago that I never knew about. She ran a restaurant with her family In the Philippines called Vilgrets, a combination of her name and her sister Greta. She would serve, be the cashier, cook and clean and it helped put her through college. I guess it runs through our blood.

I love you mom and I wish I could cook for you one last time 💔❤️💔 by @vilma_nj

Peking duck 🦆

Suman & Hooman

Lots of work for this one 😅. I’d change some things about the process but it was fun. Just a fun bite of duck, soba and okra for the little lady. by @vilma_nj

Changing things up!
Suman & Hooman!

Maja Blanca Mille-feuille

A corn and coconut diplomat cream layered between caramelized puff pastry and a corn caramel! A slight deviation from the popular Filipino dessert of coconut pudding and corn but the flavors are the same.

Suman got the no sugar version with just whipped cream.
