All visuals presented in this selection represent the Japanese code the way I saw it. There is much more to it including behind the scenes. I found the main motives to be:

1) Boys will be boys
2) Sakura which allures and at the same time disturbs one’s idea of “clean”
3) Social schism
4) Preserved craft and artistic mess with its own definition of “clean”
5) Simplicity, mannerism, rules, one mold for all, male-driven society

Older lady from the video is Sanoko-san from the stationery shop in Kyoto. Middle-aged lady is from kissaten* in Tokyo.

*Kissaten is a traditional Japanese coffee shop (where people can smoke inside 🥲). Something like ahwa in Egypt or kafeneio in Greece, but also accessible to women. by @vimelany
