Curating, promoting, and supporting music I love. It’s all happening.

I even got back to shooting some videos today. What the hell, the only one who cares if I look like shihh is me so why not just get over it. #indiemusician #independentmusic #fypppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp #musicismylife #musicpr by @vince4am

Ads for music can fall apart at any stage. And what works changes with the whims of the platform, but your landing page is one thing that you can always control. With music it was usually a Distrokid page, but as we know, that’s over, so get a good link in bio music page. taken in Los Angeles, California by @vince4am

A story about stories

“Authentic” is a branding strategy. You can only really accomplish “authenticity” in your music or in a face-to-face interaction by @vince4am

i’ve seen artists of all sizes struggle with Distrokid for at least five years. Artists are now claiming they’re not just removing their music, but holding onto their royalties

Now my feed is overrun with small fish in the industry calling them out.

The situation has only deteriorated as Distrokid was once again acquired by a mammoth corporation this year

Is a reckoning coming for the music industry? I see small operations raging against AI while “AI producers” go from 100 followers to 10k overnight.

And the major corporations are at the center of it as always.

Can we put indie back in the hands of independent artists? I think so.

In fact this all looks like a bubble that’s about to implode. I wouldn’t be surprised if major corporations eat themselves and music becomes democratized for the first time in 400 years by @vince4am

Growing up, I always felt a bit like an alien searching for my people. Music was the one thing that made the world make sense.

Honored to sit down with Vince Martellacci @vince4am to talk about Galaxy of Ours, Y2K techno, and finding belonging through sound.

Full feature is live on NewsBreak now!

Just some reminders that marketing and PR still work in music. In fact, it’s all gotten smarter. Malcom Todd’s collab with Gap has been all over my feed, flooding music, clothing, and culture publications. And if music can be used to make Gap relevant in 2026, it can do anything (with the proper budget). taken in San Francisco, California by @vince4am

Just an innocuous late-night post since I noticed I haven’t posted my own content in a hot minute. Nothing revolutionary or controversial. #musicmarketing #synclicensing #musicindustry taken in Berkeley, California by @vince4am

Music journalism is alive and well, and if you check out how eloquently @whatyoubreakiswhatyouget writes about artists like @chrisahlmansongs thriving in an industry that’s going more corporate than ever before, you’ll believe it. Chris has been making and playing music full-time for twenty years. His very existence defies everything we’ve been told about how the deck is stacked against most artists. He doesn’t let algorithms control him, he gets paid to perform multiple times a week (instead of paying), he climbs the radio charts instead of stressing about Spotify streams. Let everything you’re gonna learn about Chris Ahlman over the next week or so show you that as an artist, you don’t have to let the industry play you. You can play the game any way you want. That’s how you win. Simplify. Make your own rules. Make money, not content. taken in Oakland, California by @vince4am

Actual tips if you keep swiping. But this is true, and I see a lot of indie musicians acknowledging it. Some love it, some are frustrated, but they’re all doing it. No shame in the game Shirtless musician, thirst trap taken in Los Angeles, California by @vince4am

Some things don’t go out of style in music promotion. If you pour your heart and soul into a project, introduce it to the world with a press release, but skip the distribution sites and send it out yourself or have a professional (like me) write it and get it to the right outlets. Check the links in my bio to see how you can DIY your indie blog outreach or have me do it for you taken in Berkeley, California by @vince4am
