Find Your Inspiration!
12 short years ago, Feb 18, 2012, at my first real race, I sat next to a man at a post race pancake breakfast. During our conversation, I found out he was Joe Connolly, had run over 1,000 races, and was once in a Runner’s World Magazine article (Apr 2002), with a picture of him surrounded by the race bibs he’d collected up to that time. He was 87 when I met him, and died in 2019 at the wonderfully old age of 95. His story inspired me to start running a race a month, which I’ve done ever since, with exception to summer cycling events. During COVID shutdown, I did virtual events. I saw Joe at a few races here and there some years after I met him, and I once told him how he inspired me to run. He answered, genuinely and simply, “we all have our inspirations.”

Rainy and muddy trail race in Weymouth Woods, but friends were there so it was all good. @salomonrunning Aero Blaze gravel shoes handled the mud and wet sand just fine. by @vincetacam
