Raksha Bandhan falls on the full moon in Sravana annually (usually in August). It is a party for brothers and sisters. On this day, sisters of all ages bind a talisman or an amulet, called the rakhi or raksha, around their brothers' wrists, to symbolically protect them, receive a gift in return, and traditionally invest the brothers with some the responsibility of their potential concerns.
