we went to check out a new K-BBQ spot in town with old-school korean vibes! 😎
Bae Sik Dang specialises in 3mm Ultra-Thin Flash-Frozen High-Premium Pork from Jeju! 🇰🇷
i was actually a teeny bit scared of frozen pork coz of the porky smell/taste 😅
BUT OMG THIS WAS SOOO GOOD WHEN PAIRED WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT SAUCES 😍😍😍
we were generously treated to:

we expected a normal media tasting and instead got hit with a never-ending K-BBQ parade 💃🏻💃🏻
every paid add-on? on-the-house 🏠
the soju? flowinggg 🥃
our stomach capacity? defeated 💀
@cycliclapse and me literally crawled out of the restaurant after the mad satisfying meal 🙃

we finally tried Bari Bari Steak, the Hong Kong-born teppan steakhouse that has since opened few outlets in Singapore 🥩
the brand specialises serving steaks that are first pre-seared on an iron griddle, and then served on a hot stone pellet that’s been heated to 300°C, so that customers can teppan-style their steak to their desired doneness 🥩
there's also free-flow salad bar (comes with desserts & rice too) for every steak ordered! 🤩
we ordered:
▪️Australian Sirloin Steak Teppan (160g)
▪️Diced Cut Steak Teppan (200g, mix of oyster blade cuts)
meat quality was quite good! 😍
salad bar selection was rather decent and fresh too 🥬
can't wait to visit again for their other teppan dishes! 😎

tried the new Hojicha Latte from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 🫖
not sure if it’s coz the staff not pro enough, but the hojicha didn't even have a strong enough taste 🙃

got the super cute lucky plush pendant that's dressed in a peranakan-inspired outfit to celebrate Luckin Coffee's 100th store milestone in Singapore! 🐏
of coz gotta get the Black Sesame Hojicha Latte again coz yummy! 😋

[September 2026 // BISCO SAKABA ～ビスコ酒場～ // Orchard Plaza]
after our mooncake session at Ralph's Coffee (from my previous post), we had dinner at this quaint izakaya that's opened by a Japanese couple ✨️
i like sitting at counter seats and getting to watch all the action going on in the open kitchen 🔪
since it's our first time visiting this spot, we went for the "A First Taste" set for 2 pax that consisted of a selection of 6 popular dishes for sharing 🤩
first-drink policy applies here, so i tried their Bisco Highball (shochu, hojicha, spices) which was quite ok 🙃
they didn't serve umeshu though which was a surprise, considering the place's supposed to be an izakaya/sakaba 🤔
pacing of the dishes were a tad off too, probably due to having only one chef doing the cooking 🫠
1️⃣ Yuzu Daikon
i initially thought it'll be a big round piece of daikon based on the name, but turned out to be pickled vegetables 🥬
not bad quite refreshing 👍🏻
2️⃣ Hokkaido Hotate (Scallop) Carpaccio
fresh and sweet scallops with complementary
3️⃣ Dashi Egg / Iburigakko Mayo
this was my favourite dish amongst all 💛
love the soft grated egg yolk and strong flavours 🥚
4️⃣ Pasta Pomodoro / Mozzarella
sauce and cheese were quite tasty, but it went right to the bottom of the list for me coz of the undercooked pasta which i could taste the flour with every bite 🥲
i'm all for al dente pasta and was looking forward to this dish, but it shouldn't taste like this 🍝
5️⃣ Crispy Brussel Sprout / Parmigiano Reggiano
nicely-charred and delish 🥬
6️⃣ Wagyu Steak 200g
bit on the chewy side for the meat, and sides could be bit more burnt with slightly stronger flavour 🥩

▪️Pistachio Tart
portions were small, which me & @cycliclapse could easily finish a set each that's supposedly meant for 2 pax 🙃

i'd been eyeing their mooncakes for past few years but somehow didn't end up buying them for god-knows what reasons 😅
this year’s special edition mooncake gift box is sooo cuteee! 😍😍😍
modelled on a camper van in Ralph's Coffee's signature green and white palette and paired with Ralph Lauren’s Polo Bear 🐻
the miniature van even features an interior light that can be illuminated from within 💡
inside the camper van sit 6 mini mooncakes in 2 flavours:
▪️Salted Butterscotch Brownie in Baked Shell 🍪🧈
▪️Coffee Custard Yolk in Chocolate Shell ☕️🍫
we were so pleasantly surprised by how tasty the mooncakes were! 🤩
(sorry we initially didn't have high expectation for them 😅)
Mushroom Quiche was delish too, albeit a 'lil small sized 😝
we were gifted a complimentary cup of coffee with really pretty latte art done by one of the nice staff 🥰
and we also received a complimentary bottle of tea leaves mixture with purchase of the mooncake set 😎
last 3 pictures were me running to catch our grabcar to get to our dinner venue 😝

기사식당 (pronounced gisa sikdang) translates literally to "driver's restaurant" or "chauffeur's diner", that first became popular in South Korea during the 1980s 😎
they were built to cater specifically to taxi and bus drivers who needed quick, hearty, and affordable meals during long shifts 👍🏻
we ordered the KOREAN HOME-STYLE BAEKBAN set that comes with 4 side dishes and rice, with Smoky Pork BBQ and Sweet & Spicy Chicken BBQ 🤩
we were amazed by how deliciously smoky the pork slices were!
need to visit again to try the other dishes like Bulgogi Beef (which was sold out on the day we went 🥲)

i had the DOUBLE MOON EGG BEEF SUKIYAKI HOT POT COMBO 🤤🤤🤤
consisted of SUKIYA's signature beef simmered in savoury sukiyaki broth with vegetables and udon, plus 2 onsen eggs and japanese rice 🤩🤩🤩
i added another side of tofu 😁
