Tasting Notes:

Colour
A delicate blush of pink-copper—absolutely stunning in the glass.

Bouquet
Bright, lifted and inviting. Pear, crisp apple and pink grapefruit lead the way, followed by soft florals and a subtle saline edge that keeps things interesting.

Palate
Fresh, juicy and beautifully textured. Pear and apple take centre stage, with a hint of citrus and nectarine. A gentle savoury thread and light chalky grip bring structure, while vibrant acidity keeps it clean and lively. Long, crisp finish that makes each sip as good as the last.

Playful yet refined where it matters—fresh, expressive and dangerously easy to enjoy.

And yes… this platter pairing was nothing short of elite. Dad @winewitharty and I both gave it a big tick (which says a lot—he’s not easy to impress).

Igor, aka Iggy, is a Slovenian-born winemaker with 23 vintages of passion under his belt. From helping his grandfather “Deda” in the vineyards as a kid to refining his craft across Australia, France, California, and New Zealand, he’s built a lifetime of wine knowledge.

With his partner Timna by his side—a Slovenian native, ex-dancer, yogi, and food & wine lover—they’ve brought something truly special to South Australia: Rebula (Ribolla Gialla), the “Queen of Vineyards,” planted for the first time in the Adelaide Hills in 2023.

Tasting Notes:

I was so excited to try this that I completely forgot how to speak English in this video haha 😂 but here is a translation for you:

Rebula known as Ribolla Gialla! To our knowledge the only variety and wine made of this grape in SA currently.

Aromas: Italian green olives, elderflower, jasmine, linden tea
Palate: Savoury, dry finish, weighty texture
Pairing: Perfect with spicy food, seafood & chicken paella, or Iggy’s favourite—beef tartare. Wow I was just so shocked on how well this wine paired with our food!

What first drew me to this Rosé was the beautiful story behind its name. The wine is inspired by the Renae climbing rose that blooms around the family’s home each spring, filling the garden with colour and fragrance. What makes it even more special to me is that the same rose also blooms around my own home, creating a personal connection with the story behind this wine.

The label artwork adds another beautiful dimension to the experience. Created as a delicate digital watercolour by artist Renee Lawrence, the Renae rose artwork captures the elegance and charm of the flower that inspired the wine. I love how the design reflects the wine itself—graceful, vibrant, and full of character.

For me, this Rosé is more than just a wine. It represents the beauty of nature, the creativity behind every detail, and the memories created when sharing a glass with others.

Tasting Notes:

Aroma
Fresh summer berry aromas of strawberries and raspberries are layered with subtle floral notes.

Palate
A refreshing expression of red fruit flavours, a hint of citrus fruits, balanced with bright acidity and a delicate savoury touch. The finish is crisp, dry, and beautiful!

Food Pairing

Perfectly suited to fresh seafood, grilled prawns, salmon, summer salads, charcuterie, soft cheeses, and Mediterranean-inspired dishes. This Rosé is also delightful served chilled on its own, making it an ideal companion for relaxed afternoons and shared moments.

I was so excited to meet the wonderful team from @barrittvineyards at a recent wine event. Greg, Lenore, Jasper and Renee were all incredibly warm, welcoming and genuinely lovely people. It was such a pleasure chatting with them and hearing the story behind their family winery. You could immediately tell that every bottle they produce comes from a place of love, family tradition and respect for the Barossa.

Barritt Vineyards is a family-owned winery with roots in the Barossa Valley dating back to the 1850s. Today, fifth-generation grower Greg and his wife Lenore continue that legacy, blending generations of knowledge with their backgrounds in biochemistry and biology. Alongside Jasper and Renee, they're continuing to build on that proud family heritage, creating wines that honour the past while embracing the future. Their philosophy is simple: respect the land, nurture the vines, and let exceptional fruit shine through in every bottle.

The Prof Shiraz Zinfandel 2023

Named after Greg Barritt—affectionately known as "The Prof" thanks to his distinguished career as a professor of biochemistry—this wine is a fitting tribute to both his passion for science and his love of winemaking. Combining Shiraz and Zinfandel, it's a bold Barossa red that delivers richness, power and elegance in equal measure.

Tasting Notes:

Wow... that's awesome!

The bouquet is absolutely incredible. As soon as you lift the glass you're greeted with an explosion of ripe cherries, blackberry and dark berries. The cherry is so prominent.

On the palate it's rich, smooth and beautifully full-bodied, with wave after wave of dark fruit flowing across the palate. The spice builds gently, the oak is perfectly integrated, followed by a hint of liquorice and the silky tannins create a long, velvety finish that lingers beautifully.

And wow... thank you for introducing us to the La Vera Peppercorn Cheese pairing! That combination was simply amazing. The creamy, peppery cheese softened the finish of the wine beautifully, making the fruit even more vibrant while rounding out the spice. It was one of those pairings where the wine and the cheese completely elevated each other. Absolutely delicious!

Some combinations are simply meant to be. @barossafinefoods smoked salmon paired with creamy @thecheeseboardaus Cottage Cheese and fresh dill is rich, fresh and effortlessly delicious.

To complete the experience, I paired it with NON5 Lemon Marmalade & Hibiscus — a sophisticated alternative that’s every bit as enjoyable as a traditional wine pairing.

Bouquet
Fresh citrus, delicate florals and subtle herbal notes that are bright, fragrant and inviting.

Palate
Vibrant citrus with gentle minerality and a crisp, refreshing finish that cuts beautifully through the richness of the smoked salmon and the creaminess of the cottage cheese. Every element complements the next, creating a beautifully balanced pairing that’s elegant, fresh and full of flavour.

This is truly a treat!

Jutland Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre (GSM) — another absolute ripper from Simon!
Barossa Valley

By now, everyone probably knows I’m a bit of a Sorby Adams fan… and if you have tried his wines, you will understand why.

We’ve been drinking Simon’s wines for years, and they’re a staple in our house. With his background as Chief Winemaker at Yalumba, it’s no surprise he knows how to make a seriously good bottle of red!

This beauty comes from the multi-generational Riebke family vineyard in Ebenezer, home to vines over 130 years old. Yep… older than most things we call “vintage”. 😂 (dad joke?)

The Sorby Adams label has a pretty special story too, honouring Simon’s ancestor John Couch Adams F.R.S., the mathematician and astronomer who proved Neptune’s existence. Although, I argue making good wine like this is just as important! 😍

The Jutland GSM is one of my favourites… although I probably say that about every Sorby Adams wine. 🤣

Aroma:
Blackberry, ripe plum and raspberry straight away!

Palate:
Dark berries, raspberry, warm spice & silky tannins with a long velvety finish that has you reaching for “just one more glass”.

I opened this at a wine night recently and it disappeared fast. Everyone loved it — which didn’t surprise me one bit!

Another cracking wine from Simon Sorby Adams. And seeing the @gudillywines range being carried on by his kids makes it even more special. Great wine clearly runs in the family.

If you haven’t tried a Sorby Adams wine yet… consider this your sign. 🍷

A little about the winery…

Tellurian is a family-owned winery in Heathcote that's been crafting small-batch wines since 2002. Organically managed and grown on the region's famous Cambrian soils, they're all about letting the vineyard do the talking... and this bottle has plenty to say.

The variety…

Marsanne is one of those varieties that tends to fly under the radar, but once you discover it, you'll wonder why you haven't been drinking it all along. Known for its beautiful texture, fresh citrus notes and ability to age gracefully, it’s a variety that deserves a little more attention. I usually drink it in blends so I was extremely excited to sip on this beauty!

Now, the wine…

Bouquet:
Honeysuckle, floral notes, citrus blossom and a little touch of cardamom spice.

Palate:
You'll find citrus blossom, crisp orchard fruit and a beautiful elegant texture. The oak adds just enough complexity to keep things interesting without taking over — fresh, vibrant and food-friendly.

This is the kind of bottle you open for friends... then quietly hope they don't drink too much of it.🤣

I was enjoying this while the barbecue's warming up, glass in hand, offering plenty of "helpful advice" from the sidelines while my husband does the cooking 😍.
It’s the perfect pre-dinner sipper before moving into something a little heavier with the meal — although if you decided to stick with this all afternoon, I wouldn’t blame you. There are no rules.

Pair it with smoked chicken, rocket, fennel and orange salad, or honestly... whatever comes off the grill.

Have you tried a blend like this before?

Not your everyday Shiraz, this is a wine that takes a familiar favourite and adds a surprising twist. Bringing together Heathcote Shiraz, Macedon Shiraz and Negroamaro, it’s a combination of richness, elegance and savoury complexity that’s anything but ordinary.

Following the January 2026 bushfires that destroyed the Harcourt Co-op Cool Stores and much of the vintage, these small parcels were brought together with the support of the wider wine community. The result is a unique wine with an incredible story behind it.

Bouquet
Blackberry, plum and cocoa layered with cracked pepper and a hint of orange peel.

Palate
Rich and generous from the start, with Heathcote Shiraz bringing depth, Macedon Shiraz adding freshness and finesse, and Negroamaro leaving its mark with a subtle herbal edge and gently bittersweet finish. Balanced, intriguing and dangerously easy to come back to for sure!

A little different. A lot of character. Definitely a bottle worth sharing.

Swan Valley – Western Australia 🍷✨

My friend recently visited Mandoon Estate during her trip, and I just had to share this beautiful experience. She said it was such a lovely place with beautiful wines, great service, a stunning setting, and a wonderful atmosphere.

She loved how the estate combines wine, history, and culture. Located in the Swan Valley, this land has a deep connection to the Whadjuk Noongar people, whose heritage and connection to Country continues to be recognised and respected.

Established in 2008 by the Erceg family, Mandoon Estate has become a well-known name in Western Australia’s wine industry. Their boutique range of premium wines showcases their passion for winemaking and the unique character of the region.

The estate is also home to the historic Roe Family property in Caversham, dating back to 1840. The name “Mandoon,” meaning “place of many trees” in the Noongar language, is a beautiful tribute to the traditional owners of the land.

From what she shared, this looks like a must-visit spot for wine lovers — a place where you can enjoy amazing wines while taking in the history, beauty, and culture of the Swan Valley. 🍇🥂

McLaren Vale

If you read my GSM review, you’ll know I was pretty impressed—but this Grenache might actually top it for me. It’s the one I keep coming back to, and I was so excited that I shared this drop with @winewitharty.

Bouquet
It opens with bright red cherry and raspberry, really lifted and fresh.

Palate
On the palate, it’s smooth and juicy, but not simple. The fruit has this almost crunchy feel to it, then you get some savoriness. Tannins are fine and soft, so it’s easy to drink, but it still has enough structure to hold attention.

Easily, hands down, one of my favorite wines! Just immaculate.

If you’ve tried it, I’d be keen to hear what you got from it—same bright red fruit, or something a bit more savory? And if you haven’t, are you more into Grenache when it’s this fresh and lifted, or when it leans darker and heavier?
