👀 Some chairs are made to blend in. This one definitely isn’t.

Our XL rattan armchair is a true statement piece, with its generous proportions, impressive 120 cm high backrest and sculptural silhouette.

The beautifully curved rattan frame, open armrests and those distinctive pointed details at the sides of the backrest give this chair a character all of its own.

A little recap to the fantastic @a_designmarket in Ghent last weekend!

Great atmosphere, fantastic organisation, nice audience, good food and a unique mix of international dealers.

It was a pleasure to attend and we made a lot of people happy with a nice piece of expertly restored furniture.

✨Two versions, one iconic design. ✨

A great example of how much difference a material can make.

Shown here are two versions of the Rudolf B. Glatzel coffee table for Fristho — one in warm teak, the other in richly coloured rosewood. Same refined design, same elegant proportions, but each with its own character.

Produced in the Netherlands in the 1950s/60s by Fristho from Franeker, the table combines a beautifully structured wooden top with a slender metal frame. The characteristic solid wooden feet are a small but distinctive Glatzel detail, while the sleek legs give the table its light, almost floating appearance.

The teak version brings warmth and a more Scandinavian feel, while the rosewood version has a deeper, more luxurious expression. A perfect little reminder that within Mid-Century design, material choice can completely change the personality of a piece.

Both examples have recently been carefully restored and are ready for their next interior.

THE ART OF RESTORATION.

Some designs are worth bringing back to life.

This exceptional Boomerang Desk by Peter Løvig Nielsen for Hedensted Møbelfabrik is a beautiful example of Danish Mid-Century Modern design from the 1960s — defined by its sculptural silhouette, rich rosewood and beautifully considered details.

When it arrived at our workshop, it was a very different piece. Years of use had taken their toll, but underneath was an exceptional piece of furniture with all the qualities that made it worth restoring.

We chose to undertake a complete restoration, carefully bringing the rosewood back to life while preserving the character and integrity of the original design. The brass details, elegant proportions and distinctive boomerang-shaped form can once again be fully appreciated.

For us, restoration is about more than making a vintage piece look beautiful again. It is about understanding the furniture, knowing what to preserve and knowing where to intervene. The Art of Restoration is about giving exceptional design a new chapter — without erasing the chapters that came before.

And because we love showing what happens behind the scenes, the final image shows the desk exactly as it arrived with us.

One of Geoffrey Harcourt’s most distinctive designs for Artifort.

This Model 042 dates from the early 1960s and is a beautiful example of the period when seating design became increasingly focused on the relationship between the human body, comfort and functionality.

Designed by British designer Geoffrey D. Harcourt for Artifort, the 042 combines a striking architectural silhouette with a clever construction of wood, metal and a sculptural seat shell. Harcourt’s philosophy was simple: the chair should adapt to the person, rather than the other way around.

The design became an international success and was even used in the airport of Lima in the 1960s. A slightly modified version of the 042 also appeared in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Our example has recently been carefully restored and newly upholstered in high-quality black leather. The wooden elements have been refreshed and the frame cleaned, bringing this iconic design back to life while preserving its original character.

A true piece of 1960s Dutch design history — equally at home in a contemporary interior, a Mid Century setting or a sophisticated office or hospitality space.

True luxury is often found in the details.

This exceptional Model 49 sideboard by Henry Rosengren Hansen for Brande Møbelindustri is a beautiful example of Danish furniture making at its very best.

At 240 cm wide, its long and elegant silhouette is impressive without ever feeling heavy. The warm teak, clean lines and restrained design are unmistakably Danish Mid-Century Modern. But it is the craftsmanship that really deserves a closer look.

The four sliding doors feature beautifully integrated wooden handles, carefully shaped as part of the doors themselves. Behind them, the interior is just as thoughtfully designed, with adjustable shelving on both sides and a central drawer arrangement that can be repositioned to suit your needs.

Look even closer and the details become even more impressive: refined wooden joinery, subtle chamfered edges and beautifully executed connections. Nothing is added simply for decoration. Every detail has a purpose — and every detail contributes to the overall elegance of the piece.

September has arrived — and with it, the start of a new interior season. 🍂

After months of open windows, long summer evenings and a more relaxed rhythm, there is something wonderful about turning our attention inward again.

A new season brings new ideas, new combinations and, perhaps most importantly, a renewed appreciation for the pieces that give an interior its character.

This SW 88 chair by Herta-Maria Witzemann for Wilde + Spieth is exactly that kind of design.

Designed in 1953, it is a beautiful example of early German Mid-Century Modern. The slender black tubular steel frame gives the chair a crisp, almost architectural silhouette, while the natural cane seat and back add warmth and texture.

Witzemann herself was a remarkable figure in post-war German design. In 1952 she became the first woman to hold a professorship at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart, where she taught interior and furniture design for many years.

er work was known for combining functionality with an elegant, restrained aesthetic — something that feels remarkably contemporary today.

A natural statement with a distinctly Scandinavian feel.

Some furniture pieces bring colour into an interior. Others bring texture, warmth and a sense of calm.

This striking set of two vintage IKEA wicker armchairs does all three.

Produced by IKEA from Sweden in 1999, these chairs are a wonderful example of IKEA's ability to create memorable designs that continue to feel relevant long after leaving the collection. Small in size, big in character.

This beautiful set of two vintage bedside tables is the kind of detail that can completely transform a bedroom. Executed in a combination of teak veneer and solid teak elements, the pair has a warm, understated appearance with plenty of character.
