✨Hi everyone my name is Viola, and I’ve been thinking about starting this new instagram profile for a long time. As an artist with more than one creative profession, it’s sometimes hard to curate your individual passions together.. You might know me from my other insta profile @viola.artstudio where I share every little joy art brings me and try to inspire others to be creative in their daily life. I share my art art club there, talk about realities of having an art business and post about my daily sketching practice (and other creative projects) - here I will be sharing more of my ‘fine art’ side- because it’s a big part of me, but often gets lost 💛 this profile (@violahortova) will be a portfolio of my bigger paintings and a digital diary of my career as a contemporary expressive artist. #ukartist #femaleartists #expressiveartist by @violahortova

Looking back through these photos makes me still so excited 💛 it was such an incredible experience to put together my debut solo exhibition. I’m beyond grateful for all the help I got from my friends, family and lovely team at @alma_yard to make this happen ‘The spirit of landscape’ showcased a collection of my plein air landscape paintings and asked the viewers one simple question: what is truly means to see a place, to feel the spirit of it. “My process of painting is intuitive - I don’t overthink it. The meaning and reasons for my brushstrokes often become clear only after the painting is finished. I let my hand move freely, capturing the moment as it feels. My use of vibrant colours and expressive brushstrokes is a signature part of my work. When I paint in nature, I aim to capture the essence of the moment and the space I’m in. It’s like playing an instrument - improvising in real time. I’m influenced not only by my surroundings but also by my own emotions and state of mind. There is no right or wrong time to paint, because in every given moment, I can capture sometning. Through colours and mark making, I connect with nature, reflecting both its energy and my own.” #expressivelandscape #ukartist #devonartist #pleinairartist #plymouthartist by @violahortova
ad | I paint outside because that is when I feel most connected to the earth - when I create. 🌀 Suddenly, I am an extension of this beautiful planet, using my intuition and the feeling of the place to create my paintings and write my words. I have been so inspired by this new Create collection from @grahambrown and @thesensoryhome, using these beautiful earthy tones directly in my art. Pimento, Hot Mocha, Elderton, Chesterfield. Colours that feel like soil and warm light and the last hour before dusk. 💫 It has been such a beautiful experience. The finished painting, Two Sisters, now hangs in our bedroom, walls painted in Chesterfield. The words you hear are from my original poem, ‘Two Sisters’. Designed to complement the home’s evolving role as a space to think, explore and create, the Create collection is built around warm, mid-tone earthy colours that gently energise while supporting focus. ☁️ ‘Two Sisters’, original painting and poem by Viola Hortová. #grahamandbrown #thesensoryhome #pleinair #expressivelandscape #landscapepainting by @violahortova
