Knit jersey wrap dress – a tried-and-tested staple in my wardrobe because it’s comfy yet still looks put together.

I think this is my fifth Sew Over It Georgie dress (honestly, I’ve lost count!). It’s also my second one in this rayon rib knit, just in a different colour. My previous versions were made in a size bigger and with gathered skirt, while this one is the 3/4 circle skirt version.

One thing I really appreciate about PDF patterns is being able to reprint them in a different size or simply print a fresh copy when the old one gets worn out from too much use. So handy!

It’s a quiet weekend for us as my little one is feeling under the weather, so I just put this dress on to take a few photos 🙈 Meanwhile, I’m already thinking about making another one, perhaps in a novelty print this time!

Halloween-themed lunch in my new me-made dress! 🎃👻

My spooky-cute fabric print matched the cafe’s seriously spooky decor, and even the food and drinks were Halloween-themed. Such a fun place to visit if you’re in Singapore. I have been coming back since many years ago.

The dress is self-drafted, and the cotton fabric is from Spotlight. The bodice is also lined in silky (and slippery!) rayon fabric for extra comfort.

Now fingers crossed the haze stays away this Halloween so we can enjoy all the spooky fun! 🎃🕸️

Made a fish shirt, but with autumn vibes.

This is probably my fifth or so Libby shirt — I’ve lost count 😆 I always love how relaxed it is without darts and with grown-on sleeves, but it still looks preppy enough with the vintage collar. This time I made it in silky tencel cotton fabric. Perfect for Singapore “autumn” 🙈

The wide- legged trousers are self-drafted, made of lyocell linen. I’m loving these as they feel feminine and so soft! #ggsewtember

I made a kebaya from scratch ♥️

I drafted the pattern myself, and while it’s not perfect, I’m really happy with how it turned out! This is my contemporary take on the *kebaya kutu baru*, a traditional Indonesian kebaya style originating from Central Java.

The fabric is cotton poplin from Spotlight, and I love how the red floral print pairs with the contrasting red bias binding.

For this project, I drafted the basic bodice block using the method taught by Ko Billy from @billytjong.fashionlab in the online course I’m currently taking. It’s been a learning journey, and I’m excited to put what I’ve learned into practice!

The *kelepak* (shawl collar) is finished with red bias tape, which adds a lovely contrast to the floral fabric. The *kutu baru*, the front panel that bridges the two sides of the bodice, is secured with snap buttons. It’s the only opening, with no zipper, keeping the construction closer to the traditional style.

I love how wearable this version is, and I can already imagine styling it in different ways. More kebaya variations to come!

* The tulle skirt is RTW piece I bought many years ago 😊

Some patterns are worth making twice ❤️

My second Simplicity 3097, this time in a brick-red floral cotton poplin from Spotlight.

I love seeing how a familiar pattern can take on a completely different personality just by changing the fabric. And there’s something especially satisfying about returning to a pattern you already know fits and simply enjoying the process of making it again.

I have a feeling this won’t be my last S3097 ✨

Are you a pattern repeater too, or do you always move on to something new?

Retro handmade vibes 💕

The shirt is Simplicity 9818, a vintage reprint and my first time sewing from a vintage pattern. It has some lovely details — the vintage-style collar, raglan sleeves (my first time making a raglan-sleeve shirt!), horizontal buttonholes and bias-bound sleeve plackets. I made it in a pink cotton poplin from Spotlight.

The wide-legged pants are self-drafted and this is my second pair from the same pattern. They’re made in a beautifully soft viscose denim from Thye Guan Textile, with elastic at the back waistband for comfort. I liked my first pair enough that making another felt like an easy decision

And the little finishing touch is my Erstwilder brooch 💗

I like how the pink shirt and soft denim came together — comfortable, practical, but still with plenty of little details that make the outfit feel special.

This Indonesian batik was love at first sight.

Hand-stamped, with the gold detailing drawn by hand, the fabric is already a work of art on its own. So for this dress, I chose a simple silhouette with minimal darts and seams, letting the “cantik” motifs take centre stage with as little disruption as possible. This is Oona dress by Sew Over It. I widen the straps by a few cm each side.

Did you know that traditional batik is created by applying wax by hand—either drawn with a canting or stamped with a cap—rather than simply machine-printing the design?

Who else loves batik as much as I do? 😄

I wore my handmade dress to the F Forever concert in Singapore yesterday 💙✨

I fell in love with this sewing-tools print fabric—it looks like denim, but it’s actually quilting cotton! I used the Simplicity 3097 pattern, which has 12 panels that shape the figure beautifully. For my version, I shortened the bodice, brought the shoulders in a little, and finished the armholes with bias tape instead of facing.

And of course, I had to pair it with my Erstwilder sewing machine brooch. A match made in sewing heaven! 🧵🪡💙

Swipe right to see the dress in action at the concert! 🎶✨

First time making pants, mostly because I thought I didn’t like wearing them. But this self-drafted pair may have changed my mind. 😄

I made these at @fashionmakerspace under Hailey’s guidance. I designed them with a high waist, slant pockets and wide legs, and I’m happy with how they turned out. Oh, I also did front pleats and elastic back waist instead of darts. The fit is just right, and the lyocell linen fabric from @spotlightstores has the perfect light, drapey feel. I’m already thinking about making another pair… or two. 😅

Today, I paired them with my @sewoveritlondon Libby shirt, which I made last year. The seersucker fabric from @malintextile has made it a real staple in my wardrobe, and I love how well it works with these new pants.

A very satisfying make from start to finish! ✨

Making a favourite pattern again 🍂

This is my second Simplicity 3097, this time in a brick-red cotton poplin from Spotlight.

I’ve been missing autumn lately — which is slightly ridiculous when you live in Singapore and autumn simply… doesn’t happen 😂 So I decided to sew myself a little bit of it instead.

For this version, I brought the shoulders in slightly and finished the neckline and armholes with bias tape instead of facings. Small changes, but I really like how clean and light it feels. Also same as last version, I shorten the bodice panels (yes 12 of them) 😆

Would you wear autumn colours even when it’s 30°C outside? 🍁

I swear I’m not their ambassador, and this isn’t a paid post 😝😂

Just a sewist who can never have too much fabric! 🙈✂️

Dress is self-drafted, made with fabric from Spotlight 💜
