Extremely late to announce this because I have been deep in the work with my GODDESS mentor @cassyklisch but I am still weeping with joy over being selected as a 2026 @smoochpitig mentee!

Important wisdom I have already learned from Cassy and can pass on with absolute certainty: Everything happens when it is meant to. You never know what is happening on the other side of the veil, and the world works in mysterious ways.

Just before announcements, I was having a full on identity crisis, the likes of which were impressive even for me! But all the while, Cassy was on the other side of our little screens, holding my words and ready to guide me back to myself and my voice, and push my imagination and skills to higher heights than I ever would have believed possible on my own! Not because I was the most worthy, but because our stars collided exactly when they were meant to!

Your person is coming. Your words should exist. Your stories matter. The timing of the universe works in mysterious ways, and today's closed door is just guiding you to the right one.

It's been 3.5 business days and I'm already such a wildly improved writer. I'm reverse outlining!? Filling out character sheets? Discovering new threads to pull? Who is she!!!

Felt angry. Won't delete.

Women are most at all risk of medical gaslighting. I've had a doctor tell me endometriosis doesn't exist after I'd already had the surgery where they cut diseased tissue off of my organs to treat it, and I've been hospitalized 17 times for endometrioma cyst ruptures. More than once I was unconscious when taken to the hospital and unable to tell them not to bother.

This phenomenal skyrockets when it's a women of color. Black women suffer from maternal mortality at a rate three times that of white women.

If you've gone through this, you are not alone. I know it doesn't help. I don't feel helped. Just looking for somewhere to put my rage.

I've always found comfort in the nostalgia of autumn and changing of seasons. It's been a strange autumn this year. We've had excessive heat and some trees dying before the leaves change, but it's finally time for those fall colors and disassociating from the horrors.

The truth is,
I'm always a little bit sad.
But in October, it all feels
a little beautiful.

A Rainy Day in Autumn

For all the words I’ve learned in this life, so few can accurately describe the ways in which I love the rain. The hues of the leaves falling from trees, gold and lilac flowers in the garden- the colors pop and burst when the sky is cast in grey. The patter at my window sounds just like the tempo of falling in love and in an instant my heart is primed to do just that. I fall in love with books and music, with the mossy smell of damp earth. I love a stranger at the coffee shop, my coziest sweater. I fall in love with the fact that my heart is not yet so healed over with scars that there’s no room for wonder to slip through the cracks. And then there’s the moment after the rain; the world glows softly and it’s so quiet, so still. I’m reminded of the fact that there's some beauty in this world that’s only meant to be discovered in the gloom.
