Some goodbyes deserve a moment of silence before the engines start again.

For five seasons, Rally1 gave us cars that seemed to belong to the mountains, the forests and the roughest roads on earth. The Toyota GR Yaris. The Hyundai i20 N. The Ford Puma. Three different shapes, three different characters, and one shared promise: they would keep going, no matter what the road asked of them.

We watched them rise through snow, disappear into dust, skim across asphalt and come back scarred, muddy and beautiful. We heard them before we saw them. We held our breath through the corners, waited for the splits, and followed every stage as if the whole world had narrowed to one stretch of road.

But a rally car is never only a car. It carries the courage of the driver and co-driver, the hands of the engineers and mechanics, the long nights in service, and the hopes of everyone standing in the cold, the rain or the dust to watch it pass. It carries memories that will stay with us long after the last stage has been run.

One day, these cars will be still. Their tyres will stop throwing gravel. Their engines will no longer shake the trees or turn a quiet road into a heartbeat.

But we will remember.

We will remember the sound, the speed, the bravery, and the feeling of seeing something extraordinary disappear around the next bend.

Toyota. Hyundai. Ford. Thank you for the machines, the moments and the memories.

Thank you, Rally1. You gave us a chapter we will never be ready to close.

Rain over Sepang. A delayed start. A circuit changing its character lap by lap. Then Max Verstappen found his rhythm and turned a difficult Sunday into a statement.

The 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia asked for patience as much as pace. Every tyre call mattered. Every restart brought a new question. When the moment came to take the lead, Verstappen made it count, then held his nerve all the way to the flag.

Kimi Antonelli kept the pressure on for second, Lewis Hamilton completed the podium, and Verstappen crossed the line 2.307 seconds clear. For Red Bull, it was the first victory of the season. For Max, a hard fought win built on calm decisions in a race that refused to settle.

Some Sundays are decided by outright speed. The unforgettable ones ask a driver to think, adapt and deliver when the conditions keep changing. Sepang gave us one of those afternoons.

The moment the 2026 World Rally Championship was decided.

Two corners from the finish. Oliver Solberg had pushed Elfyn Evans all the way, and then came the incident that changed everything. After one final, enormous push, Elfyn and Scott Martin had done enough. They were World Champions.

You can feel the whole season hanging in those seconds. Years of hard work, near misses and belief came down to the last stage, then to the last few corners. Elfyn stayed in the fight, took his chance and secured the title under unimaginable pressure.

And Oliver? He recovered from the moment, carried on and still won the rally. That is a remarkable drive, and there is real respect for the fight he showed right to the end. This clip holds the heartbreak and the brilliance of rallying in the same breath.

Congratulations, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin. 2026 World Rally Champions. What a finish. What a way to win it.

A world championship decided in the final corners. Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin are the 2026 World Rally Champions, and the way they claimed it will stay with us for a very long time.

They have spent years fighting for this moment. Season after season, they kept coming back, kept pushing and kept believing. Then came Rally Italia Sardegna, one last Power Stage and a title hanging on every split. You could feel the pressure building with every kilometre.

Oliver Solberg was right there, pushing hard and setting the pace. Then, with only two corners left, came the moment nobody could have scripted. Oliver gathered it back up and still won the rally. There is so much respect in that drive, and real feeling for how close he came to the championship.

But Elfyn and Scott had done enough. After all the battles and near misses, the finish line finally brought them the news they had worked so hard to hear. World Champions.

Some wins are remembered for the trophy. This one will be remembered for the years behind it, the courage on that final stage and the astonishing way the story turned just before the finish.

Congratulations, Elfyn and Scott. What a moment. What a way to become champions.

Sardinia has just turned the World Championship fight on its head.

Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson started Saturday chasing. By the end of SS10, they were leading Rally Italia Sardegna.

The morning began with Thierry Neuville in control and Solberg still needing to find more than twelve seconds. Then Sardinia did what Sardinia always does. Rocks, punctures, pressure and absolutely no mercy.

Adrien Fourmaux was the first major casualty of the morning, losing almost a minute with a puncture on SS8. Neuville capitalised immediately and stretched his advantage over Solberg to 14.4 seconds.

And then Oliver attacked.

Fastest through SS9. Fastest again through SS10.

Two stages were enough to wipe away the deficit, overhaul Neuville and put the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 into the lead of the rally by 2.7 seconds.

From third overnight to first on Saturday morning. From chasing the rally to controlling it. And, far more importantly, from being the outsider in the championship fight to suddenly putting Elfyn Evans under enormous pressure.

Evans remains sixth overall, nearly two minutes from the rally lead, while Solberg now has the result he desperately needs at the front. As things stand after SS10, the championship picture has tightened to just four points between Evans and Solberg.

238. 234.

That is all that separates them right now.

There is still a long way to go. Another brutal afternoon loop awaits, Neuville is only 2.7 seconds away, Ogier is lurking behind, and Sardinia has already proved that one puncture can rewrite an entire rally in a matter of kilometres.

But right now, Oliver Solberg and Elliott Edmondson are exactly where they need to be.

New leaders. Championship alive. Sardinia is delivering a finale worthy of a world title.
