🫀🗡️”what’s for you shall not pass you”, but i will pass you, because i am not for you.🫀🩸🗡️

⚰️Yesterday i cried. Yesterday i was sad. Yesterday i decided, for the first time, i was going to take my pain & turn it into art. i did this on a whim. 10 years of experience & i have never ever taken self portraits but, i have envisioned so, many times. putting myself before my camera and taking one successful shot after another,but i failed every time. yesterday i came to my camera with intention, with ambition, a lack a doubt& pure self confidence. she delivered these to me. i couldn’t believe that this was me. my vessel. i’ve been using this camera since i was 14. i’ve never upgraded. i don’t have studio lights. but i have my creative and innovative ideas. i was once told how impressive this was because it truly shows the depth of talent within the artist. i am this artist. i am also the model. i am even the makeup artist. i am fulfilled in that i come with a multitude of talents and one of the deepest passions i would ever meet. There is still more than what meets the eye when it comes to me and only some stick around long enough to learn. i fascinate myself more with each passing day. while i may overflow my mind with trembling self doubt and burden myself with a caged sense of mind that expects my perfection…the bond and everlasting trust i have within the depths of my self is one of the strongest things i have ever built. it will never be broken, but it will need mending. it will require my uninterrupted acceptance of growth and discomfort. and it will continue to let go of things/people that are meant to depart. it will never. be. taken. from. me. ⚰️

🔪⛓Photography isn’t easy or fast! It’s not just about throwing filters and presets on 100+ photos and calling it a day. Similar to any form of art, it takes time.

🤍I’m VERY keen to detail and specific with how i crop, choose and edit my pictures. i pay close attention to every single person in each of my photos and consider how to best compliment each person with my editing style. i never use pre-made presets or filters (not that they are bad!). Everything is from scratch & accustomed to every group of people/individuals and setting. I like to always make sure i get the best colors, texture, light work, pops of colors, contrast, (etc.) i can. Regardless of how it’s done, editing is always super time consuming, but worth it!😅 ⛓🔪

🔪I wanted to share with you guys a little more of bts with me , what i do/how i do it and that it’s definitely not easy and short work!

its been over a year and a half since the last time ive taken live photos of a band. why? a multitude of reasons. honestly, i grew to not enjoy it as much as i once did because i was so focused on outside opinions and judgement versus the enjoyment of capturing live art. it became too easy to find things that intruded on my enjoyment even if i was just going to a show i wasn’t taking pictures of. i also just grew insecure of my live photography. i still find that to be the case at times. However, i’m forevermore than happy to engage in the opportunity when it comes because i did truly fall in love with it at one time. its still one of my favorite forms of photography ive done…I’m just much more selective this time around. i removed most of this caption because i was brainwashed from manipulation when i wrote it lol;

while isolation has taken me hostage, i find new ways to ground myself. i find new ways to answer my own questions;

it is not my image that needs saving. it is not perception from others i can change. it is not about importance i receive. it’s about the expectations i set for myself and others. they need not exist. if at all, purposeful and safely, yet patient and empathetic. coupled with proper necessity and respectful intention on the grounds of boundary.

10 years of capturing raw humanity around me and i just bought my freaking dream camera. here’s some of the first shots i ever took. outtakes included. outtakes are important. outtakes are part of the story in whatever art you craft. without outtakes comes no final or true outcome of the vision.

i always felt hopeless in that id be able to make it to this point financially, honestly. it feels so unbelievably unreal.

i am so excited for the journey this camera will take me on & the artistic release that will come with it. expressing emotion through photography means everything to me.

although - it’ll never be about the equipment & will always be about the artist.

i will never let it cease that it’s about the ability, the passion the creator holds to use art, such as photography for myself (and many other facets/forms i don’t really share) , to pull powerful messages , meanings, depth, emotion , or even complex thoughts from your mind into the world. it is the most beautiful thing i could ever possibly think of. art & expression.

the type of equipment used doesn’t create this, but it can help you reach the capacity you may strive for. you, i, the artist are who truly create it.

i am grateful to hold the next piece of my journey in my hands.

ok so Yes i’m posting this at 3am when probably nobody will see this because i am that ecstatic to share!! (but that really doesn’t matter to me, i am so excited im peeing my pant)

🥀 the house of bones, bones kept in a graveyard of memories. bones that belong to a carcass of safety, a safety that once breathed in the chaos of kindred. a kindred that have since fled, though they once shared the breath of warmth into the house. without that warmth, there is only cold, and now, cold, decaying bones lay in this domicile, rotting into the soil. the house of bones is left dormant in the silence of chaos, sinking in sentiments of sorrow and confusion. 🥀

⏳⚔️what a privilege it is to not only hear, but to feel this silence. the silence soaked into walls where life was once alive. to be able to feel certainty that everything has an end. an end to not be scared of, but to feel safe and comforted by. it is in the emptiness of it all i finally feel still. for a moment. i can finally release the tension. i can finally feel bliss in the endings. Especially in these moments. i admire the walk i get to take into stories i will never know. that will never happen again. that are not gone, but have ended. i feel the pleasure in the opportunity i have to capture what once was. to sit with the rot of the crumbling walls, but not to feel it in my lungs, to keep it alive. what a privilege it is. ⚔️⏳
