POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

This past weekend, we hosted The Grand 1894 Opera House on their 24th Broadway Adventure with V.I.P. Tours in New York City.

We began the weekend with a Welcome Dinner at Butter, joined by our Guest of Honor, Leonardo Reyna. As the pianist for the original Buena Vista Social Club band — recognized with a Special Tony Award — and the performer who originated the role of Young Rubén in the Broadway production, Leonardo shared the story of his journey to opening night and what it meant to bring that music and legacy to the stage.

A highlight of the program was our visit to the landmarked 1903 Hudson Theatre, led by Tim Dolan, founder of Broadway Up Close — whose tours feel like a one-man theatrical performance in themselves — alongside our own Joe Rosenberg, who played a key role in securing the theater’s landmark status.

We concluded with our Entertainment & Discussion Salon, an intimate conversation with Broadway artists Ellie Fishman (Ragtime), Ben Crawford (The Lost Boys), and Telly Leung (Masquerade), accompanied by Paul Loesel (Wicked). In this setting, the performers shared personal stories from their journeys to Broadway — from a broken pants mishap while playing The Phantom of the Opera, to performing both Cinderella and her stepsister in the same night, to losing a wig, eyelashes, and everything else mid-number as Angel in Rent.

We are already planning a very special celebration for next year’s 25th trip. We can’t wait to welcome you back. by @viptoursofnewyork

The League of Historic American Theatres #LHAT has renamed their award for Outstanding Individual Contribution to the Joe Rosenberg Honorary Award for Outstanding Individual Contribution!

The change was announced during the opening ceremony of LHAT’s annual conference in Kansas City. As you may know, LHAT was founded in 1976 with the mission to sustain, revitalize, and advocate for America’s historic theatres and they present the individual contribution award annually. LHAT’s board chair, Becky Hancock, explained that renaming the award in his honor was a way for the League to thank Joe for all he has done to save historic theatres in New York and across the country.

The announcement came as a complete shock to Joe, who has been a member of the league for 38 years - even before he ever thought about starting a company to bring theatre groups to New York - and it was wonderful to witness his genuine surprise.

Please join me in congratulating Joe for this well-deserved distinction as well as thanking LHAT for making such a meaningful change. taken in Kansas City, Missouri by @viptoursofnewyork
