Maryia Virshych (@vir.mary ) holds an MA in Design Research from Bau Design College, Barcelona, and a BA in Architecture from the Belarusian National Technical University. In 2024, she completed the Ceramics and Glass programme at Escola Massana, Barcelona.

With a background spanning architecture, spatial and product design, and craft, her multidisciplinary training continues to inform her current practice.

She has worked as a creative across several design and art studios in Barcelona. In 2019, she founded her own artistic practice - virmary, focusing primarily on clay.

Maryia has received numerous awards, including the Design Award from the Royal Society of Arts and a Residency Award from Domaine de Boisbuchet. She has been a finalist in the XXXI Competition of Contemporary Ceramics in Grottaglie, the National Sculpture Prize María Belén Morales, and the Homiens Art Prize.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at Sculpture Salon (Lisbon), Museo della Ceramica (Grottaglie, IT), Malta Society of Arts (Valletta, MT), CICA Museum (Gimpo, KR), Thrown Gallery (London, UK), Site Brooklyn (New York, USA), Palais Galerie (Neuchâtel, CH), Sala d’Art Jove (Barcelona, ES), Cluster Crafts (London, UK), among others. taken in Berlin, Deutschland by @vir.mary

Sometimes I wish I chose a quicker, cleaner, more predictable and transportable medium. But then I touch clay and remember why it hooked me all those years ago.
