I left for this adventure with one idea in mind: to visit a new country and make a difference. I came back having it crossed off my list, and I tried to make a difference, but I also left my heart there.

I saw the glimmer of hope in the eyes of children who don’t have much, yet joyfully chase after a ball.
The unwavering gaze of someone working toward a dream and watching it come true right in front of them.
And the quiet weight on the shoulders of those who believe and give everything to be a part of it.

Those children taught me something I will carry forever. I still see their wide eyes shining with joy and feel their laughter on my skin, as if I never left.

To my 12 teammates, strangers turned friends, I’m grateful for every moment I got to share with each of you, whether it was a quick laugh, a deep conversation, or a hotel room.

Each of us, with our own story, armed with nothing but a smile, a volleyball, and the hope of leaving a mark.

To @letskeeptheballflying , to Lesley, for letting me be a part of all this.

If I were given another lifetime to relive this one, I’d be counting down the seconds waiting for this moment to arrive.
