We’re giving one lucky winner 2 tickets to the Nevada Statehood Ball at Piper’s Opera House.

On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Nevada Statehood Ball celebrates the day Nevada joined the Union as the 36th state in 1864 with an evening of live music, dancing, hors d’oeuvres and plenty of historic charm.

This year, Halloween meets history as guests are encouraged to dress the part in Victorian formal wear or fancy dress inspired by 1776–1926 in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. And because the ball falls on Halloween, feel free to get creative — steampunk looks and other costumes are welcome, too. 🎃

Then, hit the dance floor as Renegade Orchestra brings the evening to life with a live soundtrack inside one of Virginia City’s most iconic landmarks.

New this year: Eye of Rie will offer tintype photography beginning at 6:30 PM, with 15-minute appointment slots throughout the evening. 📸✨

Tucked away in the Nevada mountains, Virginia City is an old mining town with a haunted history and a reputation as one of the spookiest towns in America.

Every October, the town transforms for Hauntober, a month full of ghost tours, haunted happenings, historic saloons, and all the Halloween vibes you could ask for.

Think Wild West meets Hocus Pocus, with a cocktail in hand.

Before he was Mark Twain, he was Samuel Clemens, a young writer finding his voice right here in Virginia City, NV. ✍️

In the 1860s, Clemens worked for the Territorial Enterprise, covering life on the Comstock with the wit, exaggeration, and storytelling that would later make him one of America’s most famous writers.

With Mark Twain Days coming up, it feels like the perfect time to remember that a pretty important chapter of his story started here.

The Virginia City Outhouse Races did not disappoint. 🚽🏁 The outhouses were prepped, the racers were dressed to impress, and the whole event was a real stinker 🚽 💩, in the best way. Some say it’s crap, but we say it’s a downright flush with fun.

What you’d expect from a small town sometimes surprises you, and @virginiacity keeps proving it.

The Comstock has stories, and some of them only come out after dark. 👻

🕯Bats in the Belfry Ghost Tours leads guided walks through Virginia City, NV, stopping at the places where the history runs deep and the legends never quite left. Hear the stories, see the spots, and feel that Comstock chill for yourself.

Tours begin at the Silver Queen Hotel, and reservations are required since space is limited. This is one of the best things to do in Virginia City, NV, this Hauntober. 🎃
