if you’re sitting there thinking “cool but i don’t have a business idea”… you don’t need one.

most of the girlies i work with start with the stuff they’re already doing in corporate like admin, ops, comms, project management, content… and turn it into a couple of services they can sell to a few different clients (which is pretty much a portfolio career in its simplest form)

what i didn’t talk about in the video is how that opens you up to a level of time and location freedom where you can take a random tuesday off because the weather’s nice, or book a one-way flight without asking anyone for leave

for the girlies who’ve been sitting in research mode for months now 🫶🏻

trying something new and putting yourself out there is of course going to be scary…

BUT virtual assistant work is literally just taking the skills & knowledge you already have from your 9-5 and offering it to multiple businesses online (rather than 1 boss who pays you shit and controls your time).

and that’s the reason why it’s the easiest, fastest and most low risk way to start making money online. you don’t have to go learn a whole new skill or throw money at some random idea and just hope it pays off.

when she first filled out her onboarding form she wrote that she needs to see what this could actually look like in someone’s life… and that every time she watched a video or read someone else’s story it gave her hope she could do it too.

so this one’s for anyone who needs that today 🫶🏻

and i’ll keep saying it til i’m blue in the face… you don’t need a big audience or a perfect website before you’re allowed to start charging for what you already know how to do

by the time we hit our mid 20’s early 30’s we’ve been in the workforce for what feels like forever already… years of 6am alarms and 8+ hours at a desk chasing promotions up a corporate ladder that somehow still leaves us feeling unfulfilled.

and then this little thought starts creeping in like… is this really it for the next 50 years???
if that’s you rn i really just want you to know that there’s a better way to make money that gives you your time, freedom and LIFE back (no cos it really is that serious)

i was where you are back in 2020, sitting at a desk job where i’d finished my whole week’s workload by tuesday and spent the rest of it praying for a redundancy (lol)

then i stumbled across VA work on tiktok and landed my first client from a post in a women in business facebook group (5 hours a week, done on the side of my 9-5). about 2 months later i’d matched my full-time income and quit… so when i say you could be there before the end of the year, i kinda mean it.

my biggest piece of advice though is to surround yourself with women who are already doing the thing you want to do, because it’s very hard to believe something’s possible for you when nobody around you is doing it…

which is kinda the whole point of out of office. it’s my 10 week program that takes you from stuck in the 9-5 to launching your VA business and landing your first paying clients, alongside a group of girlies figuring it out right next to you.

psa my VA business has never even had its own instagram…

my first client came from a facebook group within days of me starting my business back in 2020. they were the first business i pitched to, they said yes, and they ended up doubling their hours and referring me to a lot of other clients. between that, word of mouth and a lot more time in facebook groups, i was full-time within a few months and quit my 9-5.

the reason it worked so fast is that facebook groups are full of business owners literally posting “i need help with this” every single day. you don’t need people to find you and fall in love with your content first, you just need to be in the right groups, looking every day, and putting your hand up for the stuff you already know how to do. and one good client who’s happy with your work tends to turn into two or three more, because business owners talk to other business owners (constantly).

i still think instagram is a great place to find clients (if i were starting from scratch i’d 100% set one up) you just don’t need thousands of followers before you’re allowed to start charging.

also worth remembering that your hourly rate as a VA has to cover way more than your hourly rate in a 9-5 did, because nobody’s paying your super or your sick days or your annual leave anymore, and your software subscriptions definitely don’t pay for themselves…

soooo that $30 an hour looks a lot smaller once all of that comes out of it 👀 by @virtualcassie

the gals who overcomplicate this the most are usually the ones who already have the most skills (corporate girlies, i’m looking at you 👀)… years of managing inboxes, calendars, the whole office… and somehow you’ve convinced yourselves none of that counts unless you’re a social media expert.

you also don’t need to do it for free first to “get experience” because if you’ve been doing it for years in a 9-5 you already have the experience. by @virtualcassie

im gonna hold your hand while I say this...

your 9-5 is not as safe as you think it is.

you’ve been told your whole life that a stable job with a set salary and a boss above you is the safe option and building something of your own is the risky one.

tell that to a girl I know who has been made redundant like FIVE TIMES??????

a company can restructure, get bought out, decide they don’t need your role anymore… and you’d find out on a tuesday morning with zero say in it. you could give them a decade of your life and they will still let you go over email if it saves them money.

but if you build something that’s actually yours... YOU are the one deciding whether it survives. you’re not waiting on someone else’s budget meeting to find out if you still have an income next month, its on you to find clients, choose how much you charge and how many hours you actually want to work. its scary going out on your own but i’d rather the risk be in my own hands.

and as the great Taylor swift once said… the scary news is you’re on your own now. but the COOL news is you’re on your own now!!!! by @virtualcassie
