Thank you to each & every person who has been part of this journey since the start of VdM last year. This would not be possible without every single one of yall, & we share every win together. This collection was birthed from one of the lowest places in my life where I felt like life was passing me by at 200mph, so the positive reception means more than you’ll ever know.

I will continue to push myself to give you guys something you can be proud of. I look forward to giving you guys the official rollout & pieces in hand. I’m forever grateful to the Oh Snap team @ya_majestste @necia__ @dougla_kween @grew_from_concrete for allowing me the opportunity to showcase my vision in their first ever fashion show. It was such a beautiful show, & I’m honored to be part of such a talented & incredible group of designers, models, & everyone else who was there to bring this show to life.

This fashion show required a lot of blood, sweat & tears - but we did it, & we made it look sexy 🏆✨

See yall real soon. Until then, stay groovy.

-Hakim

This industry thrives on boxes 📥…

On labels, categories, roles. Who’s supposed to look like what. Who’s supposed to act like who. Who’s allowed to take up space and who’s expected to shrink. But I’ve never been good at shrinking.

You can call it rebellion. You can call it arrogance. I call it truth. The truth that a Black man in leather and shades, standing silent, already breaks rules just by being here. Already rewrites the script just by refusing to play it. Already shifts the room without lifting a finger.

And here’s the real kicker: I’m not doing this just for me. I’m doing this for everyone who’s ever been told they don’t fit, they don’t belong, they need to tone it down or turn it up. No. I’ll stand as I am. And we’ll stand long enough that the next one through the door doesn’t have to explain themselves either.

Because fashion isn’t tradition, it’s translation…

And we speak fluently
