Back-to-school is a good time to check in on more than just homework and new routines.

After the first few weeks of school, take a moment to ask your child how their vision feels and check in with their teacher.

Are they having trouble seeing the board?
Are reading or close-up activities uncomfortable?
Have they mentioned headaches, tired eyes, or screen fatigue?
Has their teacher noticed any changes?

These small conversations can help parents recognize when it may be worth talking with an eye-care professional.

*This post is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional eye care.*

For decades, breakthroughs in vision research have started with the basics: identifying a gene, understanding a disorder, building the right models, and asking the next question.

At Vision of Children Foundation, we believe every discovery builds toward what comes next. Today, that foundation is helping researchers pursue new possibilities for children and families affected by genetic vision disorders.

Research doesn’t pause between headlines, and neither can support for it.

Swipe through to see how decades of research can turn foundational discoveries into the possibility of a breakthrough.

It takes a community to create moments like these. 💙

To every guest, volunteer, donor, board member, sponsor, partner, and supporter who joined us, thank you. Your generosity, belief, and willingness to show up continue to move our mission forward and bring hope to families living with inherited retinal diseases.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible sponsors, our gracious hosts at Paseo RSF, our dedicated Board of Directors, and the passionate Vision of Children team who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this evening possible.

Events like this don’t happen because of one person, they happen because so many people choose to lean in with compassion, purpose, and heart.

Together, we’re funding research, advancing hope, and moving one step closer to a future where every child has the chance to see what’s possible.

From all of us at Vision of Children… thank you for believing in this mission. 💙

Research is where possibility begins.

Through partnerships with researchers working at the forefront of inherited vision disorder science, the Vision of Children Foundation is helping support innovative approaches to understanding, treating and ultimately curing hereditary vision disorders.

Our Research Spotlight series takes a closer look at the people and programs working toward that goal — and why continued support matters.

Because scientific progress takes time. It takes persistence. And it takes a community willing to support the work along the way.

Learn more, share this post, or visit the link in our bio to support the future of vision research.

For children and families facing vision loss, progress can begin with hope.

In this conversation, we hear about an extraordinary breakthrough for Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA), a rare inherited eye disease. Gene therapy has given some people with certain forms of LCA the opportunity to experience meaningful improvements in vision.

The message is powerful: when we continue investing in vision research, innovation, and the next generation of treatments, we move closer to a future where fewer children have to hear that “nothing can be done.”

At the Vision of Children Foundation, we believe in supporting the science, research, and discoveries that can bring hope into focus.
