Vision of Disorder – Japan Tour 1997

This was Vision of Disorder’s first tour of Japan. I was already booking Roadrunner labelmates Madball and Shelter, and VOD felt like the perfect fit for Japanese audiences.

They were great guys—easy to work with, humble, and they brought incredible power and intensity every night.

One unexpected boost came from PUFFY, who mentioned in an interview that Vision of Disorder was one of their favorite bands. That created a lot of buzz leading into the Tokyo Liquid Room show.
The tour featured an outstanding lineup of Japanese support bands, including Nunchaku, Minor League, Slang, Cocobat, and Cokehead Hipsters, making every show feel like an event.

DEA Discs released a Japan-only limited split 7-inch, featuring Vision of Disorder and Nunchaku. It became the first in a long series of split 7-inch releases on the label.

Dogma also took a different approach to ticket sales. Rather than relying on large ticket agencies, we partnered with independent record stores throughout Japan, encouraging fans to support local shops. Tickets purchased through these stores were discounted by ¥500.

To build even more excitement, we randomly inserted free concert tickets and exclusive tour merchandise into copies of the split 7-inch. It was a simple idea, but it generated a lot of anticipation and gave fans another reason to visit their neighborhood record store.

The hardcore community lost a true legend today.

Sick Of It All took VOD on our first European tour. We were just kids, and Lou and the band showed us what it meant to be professional musicians. We learned so much from them and will always be grateful for their wisdom, their music and their friendship over the years.

 VOD played on the Saturday day of Hellfest 2026.  I’ve easily not seen VOD since the 90’s.
