Ovula ovum - Egg cowrie (juvenile)

Found a Clown frogfish aka Warty anglerfish (it does have a rod to attract its prey) crawling and jumping along the flat sandy bottom in between sponges and soft corals. This species is rather small. The warty guy pictured here is about 12 centimeters in length.

Freaky Seahorse :)

For an underwater macro photographer this tiny pygmy seahorse is one of the most challenging objects to capture. Once you approach and they realize the presence of an uncommon creature (such as a diver) they usually immediately turn away and hide in the branches of their host, a gorgonian sea fan. There are five known species of pygmy sea horses that grow to an average size of 0.55 to 1.06 inches (1.4 to 2.7 cm).
I managed to patiently hover for a couple of minutes at a depth of about 28 metres to get the right angle, (com)position and light. The unique and unusual combination of an orange coloured pygmy seahorse hiding in a purple gorgonia was stunning. -> freaky indeed ;)
