📍If a road trip to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula hasn’t been on your radar, we get it. Until last year, this part of the Midwest was all new to us, too.

But the Keweenaw? In the fall?
You should start taking notes. 🍂

The Keweenaw Peninsula is the northernmost part of the UP, part of the US that still makes me stop and think…this is the Midwest?!

🏞 We spent our day driving Brockway Mountain Drive, stopping for roadside waterfalls, popping into towns like Copper Harbor for thimbleberry donuts by the water, and waiting in line for jam made by monks.

So much of what we loved was just taking our time and seeing what was around the next bend.

And Lake Superior? I don’t think we'll ever get over it.

🌊 The rocky shoreline & the way it seems to go on forever. Add in fall colors and you just can't beat it.

If you’re starting a list for next fall, save this and put the Keweenaw on it for the last week of September through mid-October. There’s too much up here to miss. 🤎

Looking for one more backcountry ride this fall? 🍂 The Keweenaw Point Trail takes mountain bikers through boreal forest, ancient volcanic bedrock, wetlands and rugged Lake Superior shoreline, with stops at High Rock Bay, Keystone Bay, Big Bay, a shoreline sea arch and now, Montreal Falls!

The trail now reaches the falls, with the final stretch of this roughly 30-mile adventure nearing completion this fall.

Want to help finish the ride? Copper Harbor Trails Club is hosting "Finish the Point: Volunteer Dig Day" on October 24.🌲
