Just a heads-up for anyone waiting for fall to arrive: it’s already here!

The rabbitbrush is lighting up the valley in yellow, the cottonwoods are turning gold, and the afternoon shadows from the Carson Range are stretching a little farther across the valley. The light gets softer and suddenly taking an afternoon drive feels like a very good use of your time.

Paint It Pink is back October 17th. Part of @mainstreetgardnerville’s We Run This Town fun run series, this run/walk brings Carson Valley together to benefit the cancer treatment centers at Carson Valley Health and Carson Tahoe Health.

Run, walk, and wear the brightest pink thing you own. We’ll see you at Heritage Park at 9 a.m.

Nothing says getting into the Halloween spirit quite like wandering around a home that’s been standing since 1857. 👀

@dangberghomeranch has seen four generations of one family, the founding of Minden, and more than a century and a half of Carson Valley history. Haunted? We didn’t say that. Worth exploring in October? Absolutely.

Apparently the wind has excellent taste cause it dropped us right at Corley Ranch Pumpkin Patch Festival, and who are we to argue with nature? Pumpkins, hayrides, farm animals, fall treats, and a very good reason to make your way to Carson Valley. I mean, come on, sometimes you just have to go with it. 💨

The first Minden-Tahoe SkyFest is taking over the skies October 16–18, and we’re just going to say it: this air show is worth building a weekend around. Come for the action overhead. Stay for the mountain views, good food, and small town charm.

In fact, there’s a real possibility that your “quick trip to Skyfest” turns into “well, since we’re already here…” FYI…we support this decision.

You could keep driving south on 395, but we sure wouldn’t. Topaz Lake is just a 20 minute drive south of Gardnerville, where the road meets wide-open views, which is a pretty compelling reason to change your itinerary. Consider this Exhibit A in our new series: Things Worth Pulling Over For. Locals, what should we show next?
