Time Well Spent | Firefly Grill

There's a time in October when the patio at Firefly Grill is exactly right. ✨ Cool enough for a sweater, warm enough to stay put and watch the sky go from Midwestern gold to a deep, faded blue.

If we were planning your visit, we'd build the whole day backward from there. Lunch at @joesippers, an afternoon of shopping local and wandering the sculptures in @experiencedowntowneffingham, then a table outside just before sunset. We'd book a room nearby, too, so the evening doesn't have to end on anyone's schedule but yours.

P.S. - Pack your sweater. 😉 You'll want it when the sun goes down.

Time Well Spent | Taylorville at the EPC

Some people know the chorus... 😌 Then there are the ones who know the hook, the bridge, and the full ten minutes of “All Too Well.”

Taylorville is bringing them all to life on the @epceffingham’s stage, on Saturday, October 3 - and we have two sets of four tickets to give to you and three other people who don’t need the words on a screen to sing along. 🎶

📢 Don’t miss this hometown tradition!! 🎊

This Sunday, September 20th, starting at 3 p.m., join Effingham Unit 40 Schools, along with Effingham High School students, faculty, parents and the surrounding community for the annual Effingham High School Homecoming Parade! 🎺

The parade will utilize the following route this year...

The parade begins on 2nd Street and Jefferson Avenue (just before @thehearttheatre), travels west down Jefferson Avenue, turns onto Cherry Street, then travels south on Cherry Street to Grove Avenue, and lastly, travels west on Grove Avenue and ends at the High School for the Powder Puff Game at 4:30 p.m. 🎊🏈

Bring your friends and family and - of course - your school spirit! ❤ See you at the parade. 🫶

Time Well Spent | TREC Trail - Effingham

Tucked away from Effingham’s busy roadways, there’s a path through the woods that was made for those who don’t mind taking the long way. By mid-October, the trail comes alive in shades of red, orange, and gold.

Park at the Effingham Performance Center or Firefly Grill, wander across the bridge, follow the trail down to the water, and take your time... 🍂 When you’re ready, come back for a show or dinner on the patio.

You don’t need an elaborate plan to make your time in Effingham memorable. Sometimes, the best days are the ones that simply unfold...

That’s time well spent. ✨

Tonight's the warm-up for Effingham Vintage Cruise Weekend... Five stops around town before it all converges in @experiencedowntowneffingham tomorrow night.

Start wherever you like. Mopar Muscle at Goeckner Bros. Mustang Alley and the Bronco Corral at The Orchard Inn. The GM party at Legacy Harley-Davidson. NASCAR displays at Sav-A-Lot.

Tomorrow brings a full schedule of events with Effin’ Cars and Coffee at Gabby Goat in the morning, a Road Rally out on Route 40, Show & Shine at the Effingham County Courthouse Museum, food trucks and music through the afternoon, Racer's Alley, and the grand finale... Jefferson Avenue opening up to two-way traffic. Cars line up at 4:45 p.m.; the first lap starts at 5 p.m.

Running the Road Rally or setting up in Racer's Alley? You can register online ahead of time at downtowneffinghamcruise.com.

Out at the fairgrounds, field demonstrations run Thursday through Sunday for Mill Road's 45th Annual Show. Experience Downtown Effingham fills with chrome and popped hoods for Effingham Vintage Cruise Weekend on Friday and Saturday. Music carries across Lake Sara at Summer Sundown Music Festival all weekend long...

Then there's the Effingham Farmers Market, a 5K, two entirely different kinds of bingo, yoga and Whose Live Anyway at the Effingham Performance Center. Swipe for the full lineup. ↗ We're putting it out a few days early, since a weekend this full is worth planning a little ahead.

✨ Never been to the Mill Road Thresherman's Association's show? Fifteen free general admission passes are available at the Effingham Tourism Office - first come, first served. Our office is open, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Limit four per person.

Every car that shows up here belongs to somebody who can tell you exactly where it’s been. ✨

That’s the best part of the Effingham Vintage Cruise Weekend - walking around downtown, catching up with old friends and meeting a few new ones, hearing about the Saturdays spent under the hood, the road trips taken, the projects still coming.

Get a preview on Friday night, starting at 5 p.m. Mopar muscle at Goeckner Bros. Mustang Alley and the Bronco Corral at the Orchard Inn. The GM party at Legacy Harley-Davidson. NASCAR displays at Rural King and Sav-A-Lot. Pick one or make the rounds.

Saturday is an all-day affair… Cars & Coffee, a road rally, a Show & Shine at the courthouse, food trucks, live music and a beer garden that opens right as Jefferson Avenue does. Lineup at 4:45 p.m., first lap starts at 5 p.m.
