Secret Valley is going all out this Halloween, and behind the programme is Ann O’Connor, whose work with the Secret Valley team deserves huge recognition beyond the park gates. In Clonroche, they have been building the sort of seasonal experience that gives families a reason to choose Wexford for an October visit.

When Secret Valley introduced its pumpkin-picking and Witches’ Village experience in 2024, Ann spoke about continuing something that families had enjoyed at Ballycross. At the time, she said the team were “honoured to be able to keep that annual tradition going for families”. Now, the team want to give people even more reasons to return, with new additions to the programme.

This year, the Witches’ Village has been completely reimagined, offering encounters with its resident characters. The Trick-or-Treat Hunt takes children around a series of sweet stations throughout the park, while the Monsters’ Woodland Walk brings families through the trees in search of further Halloween company. The daytime characters are intended to be approachable, so younger visitors can take part without the intensity of a night-time scare attraction. The pumpkin patch gives families another stop along the way, with the fairly serious business of deciding which pumpkin deserves to come home.

An October programme like the one Ann and the team have created deserves to be commended. The All Inclusive Halloween package starts (10th & 11th Oct) And remember, there’s also a considerably less welcoming reception after dark, when Cornmaze Massacre takes over for its separate night-time scare experience. It runs on October 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 30th. by @visitnewross

We caught up with a few peeps at the Cornmaze Massacre’s preview night on Friday, once they were reasonably sure nobody was still chasing them. The reimagined night-time Halloween event at Secret Valley Wildlife Park in Wexford has 13 horror zones, more than 50 actors and acres between you and the exit. (FYI, it’s a separate experience from the park’s daytime family Halloween activities.) Returning visitors reckoned this year was considerably scarier. One woman wanted to come back but wasn’t sure she could ever do it again, all in the same sentence. “We thought we’d never get out” was another review the organisers will presumably be delighted with. The cast should enjoy hearing these reactions, once they get over how many people made it as far as our interview.
Cornmaze Massacre returns on October 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 30th. Booking details through Cornmaze Massacre. Thank you to everyone who stopped for a chat on Friday night. Given what you’d just been through, it was good of you to trust more strangers asking you to come over. 😁 by @visitnewross

If there is one thing husband-and-wife team Dave and Siobhán have shown since opening Bearú, it’s that when you put quality, hard work and people first, people respond.....Tomorrow, they open the doors to Bearú Beag, a new chapter for a business that has become a real mark of quality in New Ross since first opening just a couple of doors down from this new venture.

Best of luck tomorrow guys!! 😍 by @visitnewross

It has been seven years of Urban Gym in New Ross and you can really feel the boutique aspect to this facility with Andy and Marina's vision, to Jack, Hannah and (new Manager) Rob leading the coaching side. As Nathan says "growing up around the place, it has been amazing what we have acheived in just 7 years".......
Fun, functional and the atmosphere in the place is incredible.......A huge well done to all the team, the members and everyone who has helped make Urban Gym what it is today.
We wish Urban Gym well on seven brilliant years 👏 by @visitnewross

County Wexford Chamber Business Awards have moved through the interview stages, and yesterday in Whites of Wexford the turnout and the standard on show was a fantastic example of just how strong and determined the local Wexford business and its community is at the moment. Despite a challenging economic backdrop, there’s is a real focus on quality across the board, and that came through in how these businesses presented themselves.

Best of luck to all the Wexford businesses involved as the process continues. The awards will culminate in a showpiece night at Whites of Wexford Hotel on Friday, May 22nd.....Well done to the Chamber team, judges and sponsors for their immense work behind the scenes to deliver such important recognition for Wexford business. by @visitnewross

A big step forward for New Ross Celtic and another strong sign of where the game is going across the county. Plans for a full-size Astro facility like this don’t just benefit one club, they raise the standard across the entire Freshtoday Wexford Football League.

Year-round access, consistent training conditions, and a space that can host games, finals and development at every level.

Another positive step forward for football in Wexford. by @visitnewross

Four years in, and still pushing it on.
What started as an idea beside the Hillside Bar has turned into one of New Ross’ best success stories. 10 Nine Burger Food Truck was set up by Aaron Doyle taking familiar takeaway favourites and really add to them....bigger and better flavours.....

Since then, it’s been queues in the cold and plenty of 'sold-out' summer nights, Aaron and the team, won Burger of the Year win at the 2025 YesChef Awards. The menu’s evolved, the equipment been constantly upgraded, and now desserts are getting the same treatment from Reese’s and Nutella brownies to full-on Lotus Biscoff overload.....reinvesting, backing yourselves and most importantly keeping things interesting for the people who’ve backed you from day one.

Well done on four years in business Aaron! 🙌 by @visitnewross

The Shambles has been carefully restored using local skill, craftsmanship and respect for what was already there.....this project will help breath new life into one of the towns most historic corners.....The old stonework complemented by fresh finishes has made this space now feel genuinely welcoming.
Beyond how it looks, the Shambles now includes public toilets in the town centre (something locals, visitors, families and older residents will definitely put to good use)
...and it’s not just a static space either. With its covered structure and central location, it now opens the door for small markets, makers, pop-ups and community gatherings....These activities will bring life back into the centre.
We know many will carry memories from here too... and with it now becoming part of the next chapter of how the town works it feels like a practical win all round....An incredibly respectful restoration and a space now with real potential to impact the town. by @visitnewross
