Help me replace my stolen gear 😭:

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

From concept -> execution. Practical shooting and translating to projection mapping.

From the pitch, we wanted to physically contain @danecree in a box with the same aspect ratio (roughly) as the final projected surface (3:1).

Then film, project and explore the constraints we set upon ourselves. Learning along the way, what looked cool and what would be left on the cutting room floor.

Full piece up on my YouTube soon.

Hello everyone, last month while In Houston filming interviews for some short docs I was working on related to the ICE murder of Lorenzo Salgado Aroujo , I had $12,000 in camera gear stolen from right under my nose. In just 30 seconds, while I was distracted tending to a flat tire, my entire kit was swiped right in front of me and I didn’t even notice until they were long gone.

This was $12,000 in filmmaking gear that I’ve spent the last 8 years accumulating so that I could help share the stories that the billionaires who own the media hate. They hate the truth, and they hate working class power.
#

While on location, in the parking lot across the street from where Lorenzo Salgado murdered by ICE agents, half of the gear I rely on to make a living was ripped from my rental car 2 hours before my planned flight home. I got into filmmaking because of what I saw happening in Palestine, what I saw happening in the streets of Minneapolis , when police murdered George Floyd and the entire world got activated, I realized the power of working class stories and films (and even iPhone videos). This is my life’s purpose, to help- along with thousands of other brilliant filmmakers and journalists, to share the stories of the oppressed to prevent them from being suppressed.

If you are able to donate anything at all, your money will go directly to funding an independent filmmaker with a mission to spark the fire that changes the world through sharing the stories of the oppressed.

It’s truly brazen to see this happen, as I didn’t know how the gear was stolen until 3 days later, but I’m happy to be alive to tell the story, who knows what could have happened if I’d gotten up even 30 seconds earlier.

If you’re able to donate, any amount helps, if not please share this to spread the word ! Link to support in bio! by @visual.vanguard.media

FX6 or FX30 ?

Sold my a7IV yesterday, about to sell the spare FX30 soon as well. These cameras have served me well in the last year, excited to make use of the FX6, which was a necessary upgrade as I move to more significant run&gun documentary projects where I won’t always have control over the light.

Fuck ICE 🧊

Yesterday, history was written in the streets. The largest strike in Minnesota history brought the city to a standstill. Schools, transit, and businesses shut down as hundreds of thousands of people, a united front of the multigenerational and multinational working class; defied historic, negative 16 degree cold for Renee Nicole Good. We didn’t just protest, we demonstrated to the state and to the nation, that united we are powerful.

It was a beautiful moment in history, but everyone knew that there would be more work to do. Celebrations continued into the night, temporarily satisfied with the day.

Then, at 9:45 this morning, the state showed why we must never rest ICE agents, the armed enforcers of this system, executed Alex Pretti.

They shot him, then fired four more rounds into his body as he lay on the ground. Witnesses heard the final, sickening “boo hoo” from the agents.

This is yet another inevitable outcome of the violent, racist, capitalist empire that was built on genocide, and has continued to commit genocide around the world with impunity.

Despite this terror that millions have witnessed, our power is undeniable. If the greatest strike in our state’s history can halt an entire city, then this entire oppressive system can be dismantled. We showed our strength. Now, we must organize it.

We will not stop until we are ALL FREE. taken in Target Center by @visual.vanguard.media
