For my semester project, I didn’t want to create just another navigation app. Being out alone at night can quickly shift from “I’ll be home in a minute” to “I hope nothing happens.” Not everyone has someone who can pick them up, taxis can be expensive, and even they don’t always feel like a safe option. In an emergency, you can often find yourself on your own.
This made me question what Smart Mobility could look like when the problem isn’t the distance itself, but how safe you feel while moving through a city.
WalkSafe+ is a navigation concept that puts personal safety before speed. Instead of simply suggesting the fastest route, it considers factors such as lighting, pedestrian activity, visibility and public spaces to create safer alternatives. Community feedback allows users to share how safe they experienced specific areas, while features such as emergency support, live assistance and RideSafe provide additional security when needed.
With WalkSafe+, I explored how mobility can become more responsive to people’s real experiences and needs, rather than focusing solely on getting from A to B as quickly as possible. by @visualvaullt
