Last year, I went to my son's nursery to talk about Iraq.

Not only was it an honour to teach these cuties about the OG civilisation, it also led to the start of a new project.

When I couldn't find any fun and authentic representation in children’s books for my son and his mates to learn about Iraq, I decided to make my own.

Cool Stuff About Iraq is a colourful celebration of Iraqi culture for kids, with 15 illustrated cool facts. A joyful alternative to the oversimplified narratives usually associated with the Middle East.

For diaspora families and anyone interested in the wonders of ancient civilisations.

A recent trip to Toronto to visit my bro and see Iraq in the World Cup 🇨🇦🇮🇶

It was never about winning or losing (we lost).

It was about seeing my people come together and finally having something to celebrate after so many years of hardship.

Thousands of Iraqis marching through Toronto is something I’ll never forget, and seeing people from all over the world celebrating with us was unreal.

Only Iraqis will lose 5-0 and still dance like they won the World Cup 😅🕺🏻 by @vitamin.dina

Bibi always knew.

There is nothing new or sexy about cabbage, and the Kardashians didn’t invent pomegranates.

Global staples that people have been eating for generations are repackaged and sold back to us as something new.

Trust the granny wisdom. You don’t need a celery-munching guru to tell you how to eat.

I did my first ever podcast interview with Foyer magazine’s Culture Stew podcast about my British-Iraqi heritage, from a food perspective! 🍆🧄🇮🇶

I almost didn’t share this as I was terrified someone might actually listen to it, but what the hell…

In the interview, I talk about our underrated cuisine, a culture of force-feeding with love, and I break the news that Saddam Hussein is not my uncle.
